The role and candidate



As a

Production Manager

at our Bridgwater facility, you will play a key role in delivering our 3-year strategic plan while overseeing day-to-day production operations. Reporting directly to the Operations Director, you will provide leadership, management, and direction to the Team Leaders.

This is a shopfloor-based position, operating on a continental shift pattern which is 4 on 4 off - 2 days 06:45 to 18:45 followed by 2 nights 18:45 to 06:45 followed by 4 rest days



Production Manager's

primary responsibility is to drive

operational delivery and quality

, ensuring production activities consistently meet performance targets and adhere to the highest standards of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and safety. You will lead your team to foster a positive, high-performing work environment and promote a culture of continuous improvement.

Success in this role requires the ability to manage transitions between products efficiently, minimise downtime, and optimise production output. You will be accountable for

Safety, Quality, People, and Cost (SQPC)

throughout your shift and responsible for the overall site environment, including the facility infrastructure.

Working collaboratively with the

Senior Leadership Team

, including Planning, HSE, Engineering, and Quality, you will ensure operational excellence that supports both commercial objectives and budgetary commitments.

Leadership Skills:

Inspire and motivate the shift team, fostering a positive work environment. Build a cohesive and collaborative team that works effectively together. Engage with employees, seek their feedback, and invest in their professional development through shopfloor-based mentoring and coaching.

Effective Communication:

Communicate clearly with operators, team leaders, and senior leadership management team members and other departments to ensure smooth operations.

Health, Safety and Sustainability:

Champion safety and environmental protocols, ensuring compliance with industry standards. Ensure the delivery of high-quality products from the manufacturing assets under your responsibility, while also driving waste reduction.

Production

: Ensure the timely completion of production outputs by driving the production plan and effectively allocating resources, including personnel and machinery, to meet production targets. Adapt to changing circumstances and make prompt decisions to address unexpected challenges, including the efficient redeployment of resources.

Manufacturing Cost Management:

Manage labour and material conversion costs in line with financial standards. Lean principles to drive performance.

Continuous Improvement:

Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation. Coach and develop each member of the team to achieve their full potential.

Management Reporting:

Maintain accurate shift records, reports, and documentation related to production, stock integrity, safety, and employee performance. Lead weekly/monthly performance reviews and develop improvement action plans using SMART principles.

Experience and Qualifications required



Experience in managing a specialist manufacturing environment with multiple product types and flow line processes, demonstrating the ability to efficiently transition between products while minimising downtime and optimising production. Proven experience in a leadership role within a manufacturing environment. A strong leader, able to inspire and motivate a team and a commitment to people management and development. Experience in people management, including performance management, training, and development. Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and a history of driving continuous improvement. A Lean manufacturing mindset, with a focus on continuous improvement. Visual Management, Daily Operational Review Meetings and Shift Reporting against a balanced scorecard of KPIs. Effective communication skills. Experience in managing safety, quality, delivery, and cost efficiency. Comfortable in a hands-on role, with the ability to drive KPIs and make data-driven decisions. Strong problem-solving skills, commitment to health and safety, and focus on quality control. Ability to understand priorities and allocate resource flexibility to achieve the production plan.

Flexibility to work in a 24/7 operation, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
