Senior Production Manager Location: 1st Fabs Ltd, Maun Way, Boughton, NG22 9ZD Reporting To: Managing Directors Salary: Competitive, based on experience Type: Full-time, Permanent --- About the Role: 1st Fabs Ltd is seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Production Manager to lead all aspects of the company's production operations. This is a high-level role with near-director responsibilities, offering full ownership of planning, managing, and delivering efficient production processes across fabrication, welding, powder coating, and assembly. You will oversee the daily performance of the shop floor, manage team leaders and production staff, ensure quality and compliance, and optimise workflow and output. The successful candidate will play a key leadership role in helping the business achieve ambitious growth targets while maintaining strong control over quality, safety, and labour efficiency. --- Key Responsibilities: Production Leadership & Strategy Lead and manage day-to-day production operations across all departments. Own and deliver the full production schedule, ensuring deadlines and quality standards are consistently met. Develop and implement lean manufacturing practices to increase efficiency and reduce waste. Contribute to business planning and operational strategy as part of the senior management team. People Management Manage, mentor, and develop team leaders, supervisors, and operatives (currently 17+ staff). Drive a high-performance culture with clear KPIs, accountability, and continuous improvement. Oversee staff training plans and succession development in collaboration with the Operations Manager. Approve and manage working hours, shift patterns, and overtime in line with business needs and budget controls. Project Management & Coordination Oversee job allocations, workflow planning, and resource scheduling across shifts. Ensure jobs are delivered on time and in full, coordinating closely with design, estimating, and commercial teams. Lead daily production meetings and support planning for high-value or technically complex jobs. Quality, Health & Safety Ensure production meets EN1090 Exc 2 compliance and all internal quality control standards. Maintain a safe working environment and ensure all H&S policies are followed. Champion improvements in health, safety, and environmental practices. Process & Systems Drive continuous improvement and digitisation of shopfloor management systems (e.g., using Statii ERP). Control labour efficiency and productivity by planning optimal use of available hours and authorising overtime only when necessary. Support the implementation of automation, machine upgrades, and new technology. Cross-Functional Collaboration Work closely with estimating, sales, purchasing, and logistics to ensure full alignment. Liaise with customers on technical production matters when required. Support the Business Development Manager on new project feasibility and capacity planning. --- Candidate Requirements: Proven leadership experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment. Strong hands-on understanding of fabrication processes is essential. Experience overseeing teams of 15+ staff and managing multiple concurrent projects. Knowledge of EN1090 standards and lean manufacturing principles. Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems - experience with Statii is desirable. Strong organisational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
