Full-time / Permanent (37 hours per week. Monday - Friday)
Are you a leader who enjoys rolling up your sleeves and making things happen?
At Robert Sorby, craftsmanship and precision have been at the heart of what we do for over 200 years. We're proud of our heritage, but our focus is firmly on the future. To help drive that future, we're looking for a Production Manager who knows that great results come from clear direction, strong teamwork and hands-on leadership.
Reporting to the General Manager, you'll oversee the day-to-day running of our production operation at the Atlas site. This is not a role for someone who prefers to manage from behind a desk. You'll be on the shop floor, leading by example, working closely with the Production Planner and Production Supervisor to ensure productivity targets are met safely, efficiently and to the highest standards of quality.
You'll play a key part in the senior management team, supporting the delivery of manufacturing plans that keep operations running smoothly. You'll make sure production is well organised, materials are available when needed, and equipment and processes are maintained and continuously improved. You'll manage budgets, monitor performance and take responsibility for site safety and environmental standards.
People leadership is central to this role. You'll guide and develop a skilled team that includes a Production Planner, Production Supervisor, Cell Leaders, a Maintenance Fitter and Production Operatives. You'll ensure everyone is trained, motivated and equipped to perform at their best, while keeping future skills and succession planning in focus.
We're looking for someone with a strong engineering background and proven experience in a similar manufacturing environment. You'll have hands-on expertise in CNC programming and operation, ideally with Fanuc or Siemens systems, along with a good understanding of pneumatics, hydraulics, tooling and jig design. A time-served apprenticeship or engineering degree would be ideal. You'll bring sound organisational and problem-solving skills, a calm and confident approach to leadership, and the ability to engage and influence at all levels.
You should also be comfortable managing change, improving efficiency and maintaining our high standards of quality and performance. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is essential, and experience with SAP would be an advantage.
At Robert Sorby, you'll find an environment where your expertise is valued and your ideas are heard. You'll be trusted to make decisions, empowered to lead, and supported by a team that shares your commitment to excellence. If you take pride in achieving results and want to help shape the future of a respected British manufacturer, we would love to hear from you.
If this sounds the kind of opportunity you've been looking for, then drop us an email along with your CV and salary expectations to careers@spearandjacksongroup.com telling us why this is the role for you.
