This is a responsible, exciting and varied role at the heart of Wales's most prominent publishing press. From a modern, pleasant office on the North-South main road, you will be responsible for managing and coordinating the company's commercial and publishing workflow. Duties include creating weekly schedules and quoting for external work. In a role that combines commercial and creative elements, you will be dealing with the flow of people passing through the doors of a busy press - designers, customers, and suppliers - and keeping them all happy. Responsibilities
o Manage and oversee the workflow, ensuring it runs smoothly and effectively.
Provide quotations for commercial printing customers and ensure jobs are completed on time.
Ensure that books published by Y Lolfa are printed correctly, promptly and to the expected standard.
Check work passing through the company's production departments.
Occasionally order work from subcontractors.
Order paper, ink and other materials for the printing and binding departments.
Prepare job cards for every item passing through the press and create a worklist for the company's weekly staff meeting.
Ensure equipment is regularly maintained.
Be ready to assist in other departments when required.
Skills
The ability to communicate clearly and work in an organised manner.
Experience of using Microsoft Office programs (especially Excel) and Teams.
The ability to work under pressure and solve problems.
Good numeracy skills.
Desirable
Experience of managing staff and processes.
Experience of organising work, including pricing, scheduling, prioritising and leading.
Experience of working in commercial printing / manufacturing or related fields such as graphic design.
Understanding of design programs such as Adobe InDesign, Acrobat and Photoshop.
Interest in design, technology and production.
Experience of handling and working with a variety of machines.
We welcome applicants without direct experience: the first year will be a period of on-the-job training with full support, and further training will be provided as needed. We may also consider splitting the role between two people, with a reduced salary.
