With over 40 years' experience Thoroughgood Engineering Ltd is a primarily focused on quarrying and manufacturing operations around the UK covering all aspects of work such as equipment breakdowns, installations, fabrications, repairs, and planned maintenance.

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Production Operative to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our team and by performing various tasks that contribute to the overall efficiency and productivity of our clients operations. This position requires a hands-on approach, flexibility and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment. The role will also require a ability to assist our fitters and fabricators when carrying out maintenance and repairs on a clients site, training will be provided to support this requirement.

Responsibilities

Operate mobile plant and equipment safely and efficiently, following all operational guidelines. Assist in the assembly, packaging, and quality control of products. Maintain a clean and organised work area, adhering to health and safety regulations. Support us in meeting production targets and deadlines. Report any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns to supervisors promptly. Participate in training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge relevant to the role. Adapt to a ever changing work environment including labouring tasks and assisting our team of experienced fitters and fabricators. Ensure all our and our clients health and safety procedures are followed at all times with a positive attitude towards safety and near miss reporting.

Skills

Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow instructions accurately. Good communication skills. Basic understanding of health and safety practices in a manufacturing or construction environment. Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining high-quality standards. Flexibility to adapt to changing tasks and priorities as needed. Previous experience in a similar role is advantageous but not essential; a willingness to learn is key.

Desirable Skills/Qualifications

Previous experience working with mobile plant / machinery. SPA Quarry Passport preferred but not essential as training will be provided for the right candidate. CSCS Card desirable but not essential IPAF in MEWPs (3a & 3b) desirable but not essential

Requirements

Right to Work in UK Forklift / Telehandler Experience Must have full UK driving License and be over 18 Be able to work away from home from time to time

Offer

Wage: 14 - 16 per hour Hours: 40 hours per week (4 days) + overtime
Some weekend may be required during busy periods but will be paid at overtime rate or additional holiday

Pension Scheme Statutory Holiday Flexitime or Overtime Location: Colchester, Essex (base) Locations can vary depending on clients locations. Full Time PAYE Employed Immediate start available
