Job Description

We are currently looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our Wilnecote team in the position of Production Operative (Dehacker Forklift Driver).



The role holder will play a safe and active part in the manufacturing process. The position will provide direction and control within a production environment manufacturing Bricks and Special shape bricks for use in both the commercial and domestic (Housing) Markets. Maintaining minimum downtime to ensure all products are made to their designated specifications being responsible to ensure all products presented are of best quality, rejecting unsuitable products, whilst safely.

You will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of all plant and equipment that you will be trained to use whilst being focused and committed to achieve our aims in delivering excellent quality and customer service.



The job role will involve being trained in various production processes contained within the manufacturing system. These will include our Quarry plant, Clay prep plant, Manufacturing, quality, sorting & packaging plant associated with brick production & operating a range of mobile plant.



Your duties would include but not limited to the following:



Start of shift daily safety checks completed and any issues or defects reported immediately to the Shift supervisor. Constantly monitor each stage of the process to ensure correct operation. Rectify all stoppages/malfunctions asking for assistance when needed. Maintain high standards of Health & Safety for not only yourself but others whilst engaged in all workplace activities and ensure all P.P.E is always worn for the task you are completing and is in a good condition and fit for purpose. Ensure safety systems and dust extraction units are working correctly where applicable. Ensure operator quality check sheets are carried out & signed off appropriately. Ensure all housekeeping duties are carried out as and when required. Ensure the area that you are working in is always clean & tidy. Ensure that all tools & equipment that you use are kept in good condition, returned to their nominated storage place after use & any defects are reported. Report all irregularities/health & safety issues to Shift supervisor. When entering any guarded area, LOTOTO must be followed, and relevant safe work procedure must be adhered to. Always follow risk assessments and SOPs provided for tasks where available. Undertake any relevant training as requested. Ensure a permit to work is obtained for high-risk tasks e.g. working at height, entering a confined space working. Always follow Forterra's Golden Rules. Always follow guidance indicated for vehicles & pedestrians on site. Work on any part of the production as directed by the supervisor making sure you adhere to all health and safety requirements. Adhere to site code of conduct.

Key accountabilities relating to Quality Systems



Complete and sign all process control sheets relative to the processes you are engaged in prior to the end of the shift. Report all quality concerns immediately to your line supervisor. Ensure that you adhere to the quality requirements as specified in the sites quality system for all production processes you are trained in. Work with management to develop a good sustainability culture at the works. Carry out a handover with anyone who continues with the process or is covering your task.

About You:



Good communication skills Well organized in terms of maintaining a clean, tidy, and safe work environment. Should be trained or prepared to be trained up to operate all manufacturing machinery & plant on site. Awareness of health and safety legislation The ability to manage a varied workload. Good problem-solving skills. The initiative to work without supervision or as part of a team. The job requires no formal education or qualification, the role does require a minimum of 3 months training from competent operator ensuring close supervision during the period, and a competency check procedure carried out on all duties. Literacy and Numeracy to GCSE level (or equivalent) Previous experience of working as part of a team Experience of working in a factory environment would be advantageous.
