Job Description

Job Purpose:

To support the efficient manufacture of high-quality Axminster carpets by operating and maintaining production machinery, monitoring product quality, and ensuring smooth workflow within the production department.

Key Responsibilities:

Operate Axminster looms and associated machinery in accordance with company standards and safety procedures. Load yarns, monitor weaving progress, and ensure correct patterns and colours are produced to specification. Carry out quality checks on carpets throughout production to identify and correct faults. Assist with setting up, cleaning, and routine maintenance of machinery to minimise downtime. Handle and transport materials, yarns, and finished rolls safely and efficiently. Record production data accurately, including output, waste, and downtime. Work closely with supervisors, mechanics, and quality control to maintain high production standards. Follow all health & safety procedures and maintain a clean, safe working environment. Support continuous improvement activities and contribute ideas for improving efficiency and quality.

Skills & Experience:

Essential:

Experience working in a manufacturing or production environment. Good attention to detail and commitment to quality. Ability to follow instructions, patterns, and production schedules accurately. Reliable, punctual, and able to work effectively as part of a team. Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn machine operation.

Working Conditions:

Shift-based role (days and afternoons). Factory environment with moderate noise levels. Standing for extended periods and handling materials.
