Job Purpose

The Production Operative will support the day-to-day production activities at Belhaven Smokehouse, ensuring high-quality smoked food products are prepared, processed, and packed in line with company standards, food safety regulations, and customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Assist in the preparation, processing, smoking, and packing of food products Operate production machinery and equipment safely and efficiently Follow food hygiene, health & safety, and quality procedures at all times Carry out manual handling tasks, including lifting and moving products Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of work areas, tools, and equipment Perform basic quality checks to ensure products meet specifications Accurately label and package products for dispatch Work as part of a team to meet daily production targets Report any faults, defects, or safety concerns to the supervisor Comply with company policies & procedures
Skills and Experience

Essential:

Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment Good attention to detail and quality Willingness to follow strict food safety and hygiene standards Reliable, punctual, and able to work as part of a team Physically fit and capable of manual work

Desirable:

Previous experience in food production or manufacturing Knowledge of food hygiene standards (training will be provided if required) Experience working with production machinery

Working Conditions

Working in a food production and smokehouse environment May involve exposure to cold areas, smoke, and strong food aromas Protective clothing and PPE will be provided and must be worn
Training & Development

Full training will be provided, including food safety, health & safety, and role-specific processes, with opportunities to develop skills within the production team.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: 26,208.00 per year
