Role Description
We are looking for an experienced Production operative to assist with all aspects of building bespoke lighting products for our customer base.
Our Production team plays a vital role in assembling, modifying, and wiring bespoke lighting products to customer specifications. Your daily duties will include (but are not limited to):
Assemble and modify lighting units to the required specifications and quality standards.
Perform basic electrical wiring, connection work, and functional testing of assembled units (full training provided).
Operate hand tools and small power tools safely, accurately, and in line with company procedures, to complete production works.
Interpret and follow detailed work instructions, technical drawings, and production documentation.
Assemble BELL-manufactured products and point-of-sale displays, including customer-specified lighting solutions.
Build, test, and maintain test equipment and test racks, ensuring all setups remain fully compliant with electrical safety requirements.
Carry out product rework and adjustments as required to meet quality and performance standards.
Undertake occasional site work across the UK, including the replacement of faulty or damaged light fittings.
Accurately record production and build data, along with completion details, using basic IT systems.
Maintain a clean, organised and efficient workstation, to support a smooth production flow and safe working environment.
Comply with all health and safety procedures (manual-handling techniques, safe-working practices etc).
Identify and promptly report any potential hazards or quality concerns to the Production Manager.
Perform any additional tasks necessary to support the effective delivery of the above duties, as directed by the Production Manager.
Provide assistance to the Warehouse team when required to support overall operational efficiency.
Key Objectives
As a Quality Control Operative, your key objectives will be:
Complete all works orders, accommodating any urgent requirements
Ensure all assembly jobs are completed ready for despatch by their assigned despatch date
Ensure all Container shipment products have all applicable photometric, safety and regulatory tests and inspections completed within 5 days of the container being unloaded
Ensure all LCL shipment products have all applicable photometric, safety and regulatory tests and inspections completed within 2 days of the shipment being unloaded
Skills & qualifications
We are looking for an experienced Quality Control Operative to join our growing team. Our ideal candidate will have:
To meet the expectations set for this role, you will have:
A basic understanding of electrical wiring or a keen willingness to learn. This includes electronics, electricity and safe working practices, including wiring and testing electrical equipment, plugs and electronic circuits.
High attention to detail, and accuracy in recording information, with a commitment to quality work.
Basic IT skills (data entry, following on-screen work instructions, scanning jobs, etc.)
Ability to read and follow written English instructions, specifically technical diagrams
An ability to work safely within a technical environment, confident using hand and power tools safely
A practical, hands-on attitude with a can-do nature
Reliable, punctual, and able to work as part of a small team
Basic health & safety knowledge, including safe manual handling
Physically able to lift lighting products (lift up to 20 kg on occasion)
Experience in lighting, electrical assembly, or manufacturing environments
Familiarity with ERP or production systems (e.g. Epicor)
Understanding of workshop safety procedures
