Job Title: Production Operative/Relief Spiral Machine Operative - Late Shift
Location: Manchester, Trafford Park

Hours: Monday - Thursday, 16:30 - 01:30 and Friday 13:30 - 19:30, with 30 minutes unpaid lunch. Paid 15-minute breaks are included Monday - Thursday.
We're looking for a reliable and proactive Production Operative to join our team. In this role, you will safely operate sheet metal machinery, including our Spiral Forming machine, to produce high-quality duct fittings, while also supporting stock management, warehouse tasks, and general production duties. The ideal candidate is safety-conscious, detail-oriented, and willing to assist in training colleagues while developing their skills in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate and Maintain Sheet Metal Machinery:
Safely operate sheet metal working machinery, including the Spiral Forming machine, to achieve production targets while maintaining product quality. Conduct pre-use checks on machinery before operation, carry out regular cleaning and maintenance as per task sheets, and log all activities accurately.
Operate Forklift Truck:
Safely operate counterbalanced forklift trucks for material handling as required. Conduct pre-use checks and ensure all safety procedures are followed.
Ensure Product Quality:
Consistently produce high-quality duct fittings, spirally wound tubes, and other components. Inspect for defects and report any quality issues to the Shift Supervisor or Assistant Production Manager.
Follow Standard Procedures:
Work in line with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Lindab core values, including accurate and timely completion of production documentation.
Maintain Health & Safety and Clean Work Environment:
Ensure all machine guards, barriers, PPE, and safe handling procedures are used at all times. Keep the production area clean and tidy, following the Company's policy on Neatness & Order. Handle materials such as galvanised steel coils, tubes, and oil drums safely, and follow spill procedures and housekeeping standards.
Manage Stock and Materials:
Monitor raw materials and finished goods, maintain adequate stock levels, and liaise with sales, the Assistant Production Manager, and other branches to support production and customer requirements.
Support Team and Training:
Assist in training new or relief staff on production procedures, machine operation, and safety practices.
Requirements:
Sheet Metal and Production
Experience: Proven experience in a sheet metal or manufacturing environment, ideally with spiral forming machinery.
Attention to Detail:
Ability to maintain accuracy during production, stock counts, and documentation.
Health & Safety Knowledge:
Understanding of safe handling, PPE use, and general H&S practices in a manufacturing environment.
Record-Keeping Skills:
Competent in completing production logs, maintenance records, and stock counts accurately.
