Job Summary

The

Production Operator

is responsible for producing a wide range of signage products, including large-format printed graphics, vinyl applications, fabricated signs, and display systems. This position combines digital print production with hands-on sign manufacturing -- ensuring that all signage is produced to the highest quality standards, within deadlines, and according to client specifications.

Key Responsibilities

Large Format Printing & Finishing

Operate wide-format printers for printed signage, decals, and displays. Prepare and manage digital artwork files using RIP software. Perform finishing processes -- laminating, trimming, mounting, hemming, and grommeting. Maintain accurate colour calibration and ensure consistent print quality. Manage print media inventory and maintain print equipment in good working order.

Signage Manufacturing & Fabrication

Assist in the fabrication and assembly of various signage types -- including 3D lettering, illuminated signs, panel systems, wayfinding, and shopfront signage. Work with a variety of materials: acrylic, aluminium composite panel (ACP), PVC, foam board, stainless steel, LED modules, and vinyl. Use tools and equipment such as CNC routers, laser cutters, saws, drills, riveters, and heat guns. Apply printed and cut vinyl to sign panels and other substrates. Assist in mounting, gluing, painting, and finishing of fabricated signs. Prepare graphics and components for installation teams, ensuring proper labelling and packaging.

Quality Control & Workflow

Read and interpret production drawings, proofs, and job tickets accurately. Check all materials and finished products for defects, accuracy, and durability. Maintain a clean and organised work area, ensuring all safety procedures are followed. Coordinate with Production Manager, Supervisors and Coworkers to ensure projects meet specifications and deadlines. Track and report production progress to the Production Manager.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

2+ years of experience in signage production, large-format printing, or related manufacturing environment.

Technical Skills

Proficient in RIP software. Experience operating and maintaining wide-format printers, laminators, plotters, and cutters. Knowledge of sign fabrication tools and methods (cutting, routing, assembly, LED wiring). Understanding of materials used in sign manufacturing and print production.

Soft Skills

Excellent attention to detail and pride in producing high-quality work. Strong time management and multitasking abilities. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Good problem-solving and mechanical aptitude. Strong communication and coordination skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in

LED sign assembly

CNC routing

, or

acrylic fabrication

. Knowledge of

vehicle wrap or vinyl installation techniques

. Forklift or workshop equipment certification. Understanding of

sign installation processes
