Planet Doughnut is an award-winning handmade doughnut manufacturer, passionate about producing high quality products using the finest ingredients. Producing over 10,000 doughnuts per shift, our delicious creations are enjoyed across the UK. Supplied to wholesalers, retailers, sports venues and theme parks, one of our doughnuts is consumed every 15 seconds!
As our business continues to grow, we're introducing a brand new Production Planner role to bring structure, efficiency and clarity to our production process from sales order through to delivery.
The Role
This is a newly created and pivotal position within our team. You'll be responsible for planning and coordinating all aspects of our doughnut production, ensuring the right products are made, with the right ingredients, at the right time.
Working closely with our sales team and four production supervisors, you'll take charge of production planning, raw material forecasting, people scheduling and coordination of deliveries. You'll be the key link between sales, production and logistics; turning customer orders into clear, achievable production plans.
This is an
office-based role
that requires strong communication, organisation and computer skills. You'll enjoy autonomy and the chance to shape efficient new processes as the business continues to grow.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and manage daily and weekly production schedules based on sales orders and forecasts.
Plan raw material and ingredient requirements, ensuring stock levels are maintained efficiently.
Coordinate with the purchasing team and suppliers to ensure timely ordering of materials.
Work closely with production supervisors to ensure production schedules are realistic and achievable.
Monitor production progress and adjust plans as needed to meet customer demand.
Manage people scheduling, including shift planning and allocation across the production team.
Collaborate with the logistics supervisor to plan and optimise delivery routes.
Take full ownership of the cloud-based inventory system, ensuring data accuracy, material traceability and efficient stock management.
Analyse production performance data to identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce waste and streamline workflows.
Communicate effectively across departments to ensure smooth workflow from order to delivery.
About You
You're a proactive, detail-orientated individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment. You'll be confident juggling multiple priorities, building relationships across teams and taking ownership of systems and processes.
Essential Skills & Experience
Excellent organisational, planning and problem solving skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Competent with spreadsheets, databases and cloud-based planning or inventory software.
Analytical mindset with excellent attention to detail.
Ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks effectively.
Experience in a production, manufacturing or food industry environment is preferred but not essential.
A collaborative team player who's comfortable in a growing, hands on business.
Working Hours
Full time, Monday to Friday. No weekends.
40 hours per week, with flexibility around start and finish times.
