Job Overview



We're looking for a hands-on Shift Skills Development Manager to lead and develop a team of 12-18 Manufacturing Operatives. In this role, you'll spend around 60% of your time providing on-the-job skills training, ensuring our people are equipped to meet current and future manufacturing requirements. This is a fantastic opportunity for a proactive leader who is passionate about coaching, continuous improvement, and building high-performing teams.

Key Responsibilities



Lead, mentor and develop Manufacturing Operatives, Production Technicians and Quality Technicians to achieve production targets.

Maintain a safe working environment, ensuring full compliance with all H&S procedures and PPE requirements.

Assess training needs and competency levels across the shift, identifying skill gaps and development priorities.

Create and deliver tailored training plans to upskill team members.

Ensure full adherence to all company policies, procedures and operational standards.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date operational information within the Factory Master system.

Work collaboratively with other Shift Skills Development Managers, ensuring clear and comprehensive handovers to maintain consistent production across shifts.

Provide timely and accurate reports on team activities and operational performance.

Skills & Experience



Previous experience within a manufacturing environment

(essential).



Proven leadership experience, with the ability to manage, coach and develop a team.

Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

Good numeracy, literacy and IT skills (including spreadsheets and word processing).

A positive "can-do" attitude with strong time-management skills.

Proactive, adaptable, and comfortable driving continuous improvement in a changing environment.
