As we continue to grow, we are looking for a Production Team Leader to join our team and support our roasting operations.

About the Role

The Production Team Leader plays a vital role in ensuring our coffee is roasted efficiently and consistently, is packed to a high standard and ensures the Roastery, from roasting to packing is kept on track with output targets and is kept in line with Food Safety Standards. You'll be responsible for coordinating the team in the Roastery on a day-to-day basis, operating our roasting equipment, operating and setting up our automatic bagging line, assisting with production processes, and maintaining quality standards. We're looking for someone with a passion for coffee, strong coordination skills with a strong engineering aptitude to ensure machine uptime.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leader Responsibilities

Supervise and support team members to ensure tasks are completed efficiently and to a high standard Coordinate daily operations in the roastery, assign duties, and monitor team performance. Responsible to the maintenance and upkeep of all equipment in the roastery, coordinating maintenance in line with production schedules Provide training and coaching to develop skills and improve productivity. Foster a positive team culture, encouraging collaboration and accountability. Report on team performance, issues, and progress to line manager. Ensure production orders are completed in SAP By Design Book inbound deliveries of roastery related products into SAP By Design Work with Procurement to highlight any raw product shortages to fulfil the production schedule

Production Responsibilities

Operate and monitor Joper 120kg and Diedrich 35kg roasters following established roast profiles. Carry out product changeovers on the automatic bagging line with the support of the team Coordinate the production team to meet production schedules and order deadlines. Ensure consistency by accurately following roasting parameters, logging data, and making minor adjustments as needed. Assist with weighing, bagging, and labelling roasted coffee to prepare it for dispatch where required. Ensure production compliance paperwork is completed in line with the agreed cadence

Quality Control

Ensure Quality Control System/Paperwork is competed Carry out in regular cuppings to understand roast quality and flavour profiles. Follow established quality control procedures to maintain consistency. Work with the team to improve production processes based on feedback and data.

Equipment Maintenance & Safety

Coordinate and perform routine cleaning and basic maintenance of roasting equipment to ensure efficiency and safety. Follow health and safety protocols in all roasting and production activities. Report any equipment issues promptly to line manager. Conduct regular cleaning in line with maintenance schedules

Passion for coffee and a willingness to learn the roasting process. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow precise instructions. Comfortable working in a fast-paced production environment. Strong Engineering/mechanical aptitude Ability to work well in a team and communicate effectively.
