Overview



Job Purpose:



To assist the Production Manager in the smooth running of all aspects of daily tasks within the production team and ensure the productivity and efficiency of the team in delivering production requirements.

Oversee a team of operatives, plan and prioritise workload and ensure effective job rotation during a shift.

To have knowledge of machine assembly and be responsible for basic maintenance tasks.

Carry out line safety checks prior to production startup and report any issues to the relevant manager and Engineering where required.

Responsible for ensuring that recipe standards are adhered to, ensuring that product trough is maintained in a full state continuously.

Organise raw materials and packing etc. from the warehouse and ensure lines are set up with minimum down time.

Ensure that all production activities comply with product specification by monitoring the production process and carrying out basic testing and quality checks and completing integrity checks at the end of a product run. Carry out any corrective actions, report any issues to the Production Manager as required.

Correctly complete all required paperwork before, during and at the end of every product run.

Liaise with other key stakeholders to maintain high standards facilitating continuous flow of manufacturing operations ensuring timely completion of process control documentation ensuring targets are being met.

Ensure that all CCP's are adhered to, ensuring the accurate completion of paperwork, and interrogating non-conformance.

Provide training and guidance to production operatives and line leaders where required.

Work closely with other Team Leaders to identify skills gaps and provide training where needed.

Motivate the team and encourage team performance through open and effective communication.

Respect and honour the sentiment of the Cranswick ethical policies and codes of conduct, when interacting with your colleagues at all times.

Work in an Environmental and Energy efficient manner and to respect and honour the sentiment of the Cranswick Environmental and Energy policies and Second Nature principles.

Work in partnership with the Senior Management team on site to be part of the Culture of the site which drives Food Safety, H&S, Ethical, Environmental and Energy behaviours.

Comply with the company food safety and hygiene policies and procedures at ALL times.

Oversee the correct storage of goods and raw materials within the factory and/or warehouse.

Work with other team leaders and the management team to meet the daily production plan requirements without compromising on food safety, hygiene, quality and legality.

Health and Safety:



Ensure that you understand and adhere to your personal responsibilities with regards to the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.

Take reasonable care for your own and other's health and safety while at work and to Co-operate with your employer on health and safety matters.

Anything provided in the interests of health, safety or welfare must not be intentionally or recklessly interfered with or misused.

Responsible for ensuring that the training needs of your department are understood, and your direct staff have the relevant training required to carry the tasks they are undertaking safely.

Coaching and mentoring your team through periods of change.

Ensure effective communication to all direct reports on accidents, hazard & near miss reporting or emerging issues from the industry or other sites.

Ensuring any corrective actions assigned to yourself are closed out within agreed timescales.

Responsible to ensure compliance to company policies, procedures, site rules and information and instruction given by your employer.

Ensure that equipment is prepared and operated safely and correctly at all times.

Report any damages to the relevant manager/line leader and to engineering where required.

Correctly use lifting equipment, such as manual pump trucks, where required. DO NOT USE ANY MACHINERY OR EQUIPMENT IF TRAINING HAS NOT BEEN GIVEN.

Requirements, Experience and Person Specification:



Basic Induction Training, given prior to any work undertaken in the factory including basic health and safety training.

Basic Food Hygiene.

HACCP - in house training

Level 2 H&S awareness.
Accident investigation training

Experience within chilled food production.

Company training sessions will support continuous personal development ensuring you remain up to date with policies, procedures and job requirements.

Intermediate Food Hygiene

Understanding of relevant risk assessments and safe working procedures. Understanding and application of hazard identification and near miss reporting.
Understanding and competence in trained factory tasks must be demonstrated.

The ability to follow instruction and carry out new tasks must be demonstrated.

The ability to effectively lead the team and provide training where required must be demonstrated

Job specific training is given in all areas where needed and may be within the company or provided by an external source.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: 13.97 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
