The Planning, Process and Production Technician will support the efficient planning, coordination, and control of manufacturing processes to ensure that production is cost-effective, safe, and compliant with food safety standards. This role ensures smooth day-to-day operations by monitoring production schedules, optimising resources, and maintaining adherence to technical and quality requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Production Planning & Coordination
Assist in preparing daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules in line with customer orders.
Ensure adequate allocation of labour, machinery, and raw materials to meet production targets.
Monitor workflow and adjust schedules to resolve bottlenecks or delays.
Process Control & Efficiency
Monitor production lines and equipment to ensure optimal efficiency and minimal downtime.
Record and analyse production data, identifying opportunities for process improvement.
Support continuous improvement initiatives such as lean manufacturing, waste reduction, and efficiency gains.
Quality & Food Safety Compliance
Ensure processes comply with BRCGS Food Safety Issue 9 and customer-specific standards (e.g., Nando's).
Support technical teams in maintaining HACCP, GMP, and hygiene controls across production areas.
Escalate any deviations in process, quality, or safety to management immediately.
Technical & Operational Support
Assist with line changeovers, set-up checks, and equipment calibration as required.
Ability to understand plant and equipment and production lines
Ability to skill up and train operators
Support the implementation of new production methods or equipment.
Provide technical support to production staff and ensure correct SOPs are followed.
Documentation & Reporting
Maintain accurate records of production output, downtime, and variances.
Contribute to internal audits, inspections, and external audits where required.
Generate regular reports for senior management on production performance.
Skills & Competencies Required:
Strong organisational and planning skills.
Knowledge of production processes within food manufacturing or similar industries.
Understanding of HACCP, GMP, and health & safety requirements.
Analytical and problem-solving ability.
Effective communication skills to work across production, technical, and management teams.
Bilingual in Punjabi and/or Hindi is an advantage
Qualifications & Experience:
HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in food technology, engineering, or production management (desirable).
Previous experience in a production planning or process technician role within food manufacturing or FMCG environment.
Experience with ERP/MRP systems for production planning is advantageous.
Experience in Engineering practices and functions of equipment.
