Role Overview



The Production Manager is responsible for overseeing all manufacturing operations within the Preparation, Fabrication, and Paint departments. The role ensures effective planning, resource allocation, workflow optimisation, and team leadership to deliver high-quality products on time and in line with ADE Power's operational objectives. The Production Manager acts as a key link between shop-floor teams, departmental supervisors, and cross-functional departments to maintain smooth and efficient production processes.

Key Responsibilities



Planning & Scheduling



Create and manage production schedules across Fabrication, Paint, and Prep teams to meet customer requirements and project deadlines. Plan and allocate labour, materials, and equipment resources based on workload and capacity. Adjust schedules and resources proactively in response to changing priorities.

Operational Leadership



Lead and support departmental supervisors, setting clear expectations, performance targets, and development goals. Oversee daily shop-floor operations, resolving issues promptly to prevent delays and ensure workflow continuity. Ensure all production activities are carried out efficiently, safely, and in line with quality standards.

Quality & Technical Oversight



Ensure work meets established quality benchmarks, with checks carried out at key production stages. Apply strong understanding of fabrication and welding processes to support troubleshooting, quality control, and production improvement. Promote adherence to fabrication and welding standards, procedures, and best practices.

Continuous Improvement



Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, waste reduction, and workflow optimisation. Champion best practices including Lean manufacturing, 5S, and process improvement methodologies (preferred).

Cross-Department Collaboration



Collaborate with Procurement, Design/Engineering, Project Management, and other internal teams to ensure timely flow of information, materials, and technical details. Coordinate with the Maintenance team to schedule equipment maintenance while minimizing operational disruption.

Performance Monitoring & Reporting



Monitor and report on key production KPIs including output, efficiency, scrap levels, and on-time delivery. Implement corrective actions where performance deviates from targets.

Health, Safety & Compliance



Ensure all production departments comply with company health and safety procedures. Promote a safety-first culture and ensure appropriate training, audits, and safe working practices are maintained.

Skills & Experience



Essential



Proven background in production management within fabrication, welding, engineering, or industrial manufacturing environments. Strong understanding of fabrication and welding processes, equipment, materials, and quality standards. Strong leadership capability with experience managing multiple production teams. Excellent organisational and planning skills with the ability to manage complex workloads. Effective problem-solving skills and responsiveness when issues arise. Strong commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement.

Desirable



Working knowledge of Lean manufacturing, 5S, or continuous improvement methodologies. Experience implementing process improvements or efficiency initiatives.

Working Hours



The working hours for this position are 40 hours per week, from 7:00am to 4:00pm, Monday to Thursday and 7:00am to 1:00pm on Friday. The business is closed for Bank Holidays, and we also enjoy a shutdown every Christmas until after the New Year.

We offer a competitive salary based on your experience and expertise. The salary range for this role is 50,000 - 65,000, depending on experience.
