Wandsworth School of Gymnastics is a growing gymnastics school dedicated to delivering high-quality gymnastics in a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment. We provide pathways from recreational participation through to elite competition, helping children and young people develop confidence, resilience, and excellence both in and out of the gym.

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced and passionate

Programme & Gymnastics Competition Director/Coach

to lead and develop our gymnastics programme. This is a dual role, combining leadership and programme management with hands-on coaching. The successful candidate will oversee recreational and competitive pathways, mentor coaches, and directly prepare athletes for local, regional, and national competitions.

This is an exciting opportunity to shape the direction of the academy and inspire the next generation of gymnasts.

Key Responsibilities

Programme Leadership



Design, manage, and deliver a structured gymnastics programme with clear pathways from recreational to competitive levels. Create progressive lesson plans, training schedules, and development frameworks. Support and mentor the coaching team, ensuring high standards across the academy. Monitor programme outcomes and implement improvements where needed.

Competition Leadership



Lead the competitive gymnastics programme, including talent identification and athlete development. Deliver advanced training sessions to prepare squads for regional and national competitions. Manage competition logistics (entries, schedules, and athlete support). Ensure compliance with British Gymnastics regulations and competition requirements.

Coaching & Athlete Development



Deliver inspiring, safe, and high-quality gymnastics coaching sessions across all levels. Support gymnasts with technical, physical, and mental preparation for performance. Build a positive and inclusive environment where all athletes feel supported to reach their potential. Promote athlete wellbeing, safeguarding, and safe coaching practice.
Person Specification

Essential:



UKCC Level 2/3 (minimum) in Artistic Gymnastics or equivalent. Strong track record in coaching competitive gymnasts and preparing athletes for competition. Proven leadership and organisational skills. Experience in programme development and coaching team management. Commitment to inclusivity, safeguarding, and athlete-centred coaching.

Desirable:



UKCC Level 4 qualification or international equivalent. Judging qualification and/or experience supporting competition events. Additional background in choreography, performance, or related disciplines. First Aid and Safeguarding certifications.
