About the role

Are you highly organised, detail-oriented, and passionate about supporting innovative commercial projects? We are looking for a Programme Support Officer to join our Business Development Team and help deliver commercial initiatives that support councils and strengthen the LGA's financial sustainability.


In this role, you will provide essential administrative and programme support, helping to coordinate projects, maintain accurate records, and assist in the preparation of reports, commercial bids, and marketing materials. You will work closely with internal teams and external partners to ensure the smooth delivery of commercial activities. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to meaningful work of local government in a dynamic, commercially focused environment.


This is a part-time, fixed-term role, with the potential to become permanent based on commercial success.

About You

You are a proactive and organised individual with a keen eye for detail and a "can do" attitude. You enjoy working in a fast-paced target-driven commercial environment and are confident managing multiple tasks and deadlines. You are comfortable using Microsoft Office tools and have experience supporting projects or programmes, ideally in a commercial and public sector setting.


You will bring:

Experience supporting commercial or income-generating projects. Strong organisational and administrative skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Excellent written and verbal communication skills. A collaborative and flexible approach to teamwork. An understanding of local or central government operations is desirable.

You must have the right to work in the UK, the LGA are unfortunately unable to offer sponsorship visas. Evidence for the right to work in the UK will be requested at the interview stage.

Our benefits

LGA annual leave entitlement is 29 days, rising to 31 days after three years' service and to 33 days after five years' service, plus all UK public holidays (pro rata for fixed term and part time contracts).
