About the Role:



Lewisham Youth Theatre is recruiting a full-time Programmes Assistant Intern for a 12-month, Jack Petchey-funded role supporting vulnerable young people aged 8-21 through free creative theatre programmes.

The role combines project coordination, session delivery and pastoral care, supporting outreach, recruitment, family communications, youth leadership and evaluation.

Working closely with staff and freelancers, the assistant helps deliver drama, performance and technical theatre activities while upholding safeguarding and inclusion policies. The internship offers structured training, mentoring and professional development, aiming to build skills for future youth arts coordinator roles within a supportive, inclusive organisation.

About Lewisham Youth Theatre (LYT):

LYT makes creatively challenging and socially impactful theatre with young artists aged 8-25, providing a space where they can develop the skills, ambitions and agency to fulfil their potential. Since 1987, we have provided free and inclusive drama, performance and technical theatre programmes, drawing together young people from across Lewisham's diverse communities. LYT is a sector leader in engaging and empowering young people's leadership and nurturing emerging talent. LYT provides a friendly and supportive staff team of creative professionals committed to making a real difference in the lives of local young people through powerful art.

Hours:

Full time (12 months - Fixed Term)

Salary:

25,000 per annum

Person Specification



We are looking for candidates with some experience of:



? Delivering drama activities or games with peers or younger age groups;

? Organising youth activities, including helping to plan and promote activities

? Communicating with a variety of, through a variety of media.

We are looking for candidates with an interest in and commitment to:



? Supporting young people, particularly those with additional barriers to arts engagement, to reach their potential;

? Using creativity to support young people's personal development;

? Keeping children and young people safe through a commitment to Safeguarding, IDEA (Inclusivity, Diversity, Equality & Inclusion) and Anti-bullying.

We expect candidates to be able to demonstrate that they are:



? Reliable and able to commit to the work as agreed

? Good team players who are open to collaborative approaches to work.

? Eager to learn, and able to take on new or challenging tasks as they arise
