Programme Essentials
To join one of our 12-month Internships you will be:.

  • Currently be studying at University and applying for a Placement year in your 2nd or final year or graduating in Summer 2024
  • Looking for work experience immediately after completing A-Levels or equivalent course or an Apprenticeship
  • Eligible to work in the UK without restriction for the duration of the internship from Monday 1st July 2024- Friday 18th July 2025
  • We strongly advise that you do not apply to more than 1 Internship role to ensure that you are considered for the Internship that you are most interested in and that your skills are aligned to
What will I be doing? We have 2 exciting opportunities within our programming department. One sitting within our NBCUniversal EMEA team and one working within DreamWorks. As a Programme Planning Intern, you will assist in the planning of programmes on various television channels in several territories. This will involve learning and using bespoke data entry systems, as well as learning about the data analysis of ratings, tracking the channels performance, analyzing competitor channels, as well as screening content. You will have exposure to a broad range of tasks that all go into the operation of a TV channel, which will enhance your strategic thinking in an ever-changing TV landscape. You will also have the opportunity to learn about the broader industry and employment therein, as well as join various special interest groups within the organization. What will I learn from this opportunity? Channel Planning: Programming a television channel (linear and non-linear - e.g. streaming) and all that that entails, from the viewing of shows to the strategy of their placement on various platforms and in various territories. The TV Village: You will sit with programming, but you will learn from the environment in which channels are the central aspect: gaining exposure to various departments such as marketing, ad sales, research, creative, essentially all departments that go into making a TV channel. The Fundamentals of Broadcasting: You will be integral to the team and gain hands on experience in the field of television. You will therefore gain a solid foundation from which to develop your career in television

As well as a passion for TV, you will have:
  • Attention to detail and the ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment
  • Ability to communicate with people at all levels in a professional and mature manner
  • Ability to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines and undertake various administrative duties
  • Be forthright and bring new ideas to the table with enthusiasm
  • Collaborate as a team member, but with the ability to work as an individual and take personal responsibility for the work you are asked to contribute.
