36.25 hours per week





It is an essential requirement for the role that successful candidates hold a current full driving licence and have access to a vehicle.

Your role:




Will be engaging young people aged 15-18 to provide motivational support and personal development as they progress their pathway to employment or back into education. The programme has a broad approach to removing barriers to employment for young people from a range of backgrounds such as complex safeguarding teams, looked after children/young people and transitional safeguarding or long-term unemployed. You will have responsibility for a case load of young people, working with them in a group and one to one setting.


Working to an assessment and performance framework that will support you to meet the individual action plans for each of your learners with a tailored set of objectives for each learner to help them become more confident, build resilience, become economically active or move into full time education.


In this role you will

Increase employability, attainment levels and life chances for children and young people in Greater Manchester Working to develop a network of local authority representatives and third sector partners, employers to build work experience and placement opportunities. Encourage young people's active participation in the communities in which they live Assist GMFRS to develop it educational programme of work and skills

About you:




Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service is looking for an innovative and passionate individual to lead and deliver a bespoke programme to children, young people, raising the profile of GMFRS in support of the work and skills agenda across Greater Manchester building on the existing work through our pre employment offer of the Team programme.


The successful candidate will manage the delivery of personal development opportunities through education, advice and short courses that meet the identified needs of the children or young people. You will promote the delivery of a person-centred, strengths-based approach supporting a programme that empowers young people to build confidence to all whilst engaging working with partners to support a coordinated multi-agency approach to reducing risk and vulnerability for those adults, children, and young people on your caseload.

The candidate will have:



Ability to work across the Greater Manchester area A strong background in youth development and employability programmes Ability to build working relationships with partner organisations and GMFRS personnel. Experience of delivering multiple programmes/partnerships in the education, work and skills agenda. Experience of working with cohorts of children and young people aged 15-18 from a range of backgrounds. Ability to deal with sensitive issues and maintain confidentiality. Good interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people community and service users, GMFRS and representatives from partner organisations. Experience of communicating and presenting to a wide range of audiences. Self-motivation and can persuade and influence others.
