We are currently recruiting an experienced Project Accountant to join our growing finance team - a role that's central to ensuring our projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.

The Role

As a Project Accountant, you'll play a key role in managing the financial performance of Sulmara's projects. This role bridges Finance and Operations, making you a trusted financial business partner overseeing that the financial insights translate into actionable project improvements.

You will have the opportunity to reshape how project finance works, gaining unmatched influence and exposure across global projects, and contribute to projects that drive cleaner energy and sustainable marine solutions worldwide.

Your expertise will have a direct impact on the success of our projects worldwide.

What You'll Do

Take ownership of project trackers - ensuring accurate setup, alignment with commercial assumptions, and up-to-date financial data.
Review project financials before month-end to ensure accurate recognition of revenue and costs.
Prepare and post month-end accruals, analysing revenue and cost components.
Analyse and explain variances between actuals, forecasts, and budgets.
Work closely with Project Managers to develop accurate and reliable forecasts.
Identify and mitigate financial risks, ensuring profitability is protected and forecasts are realistic.
Support the development of performance improvement initiatives through detailed financial analysis.
Conduct project closeouts, reconciling final revenue and costs.
Collaborate with the Cost Controller to optimise resource utilisation, monitor expenditures, and enhance cost efficiency.
Liaise with the central finance team to ensure accurate and consistent reporting.
Act as the key contact for auditors on all project-related revenue and cost matters.

What You'll Need

You'll be a part-qualified or qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
Proven experience in a project accounting or management accounting role, ideally within engineering, offshore, or project-based industries.
Strong understanding of revenue recognition, forecasting, and cost control.
Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and provide meaningful insight.
Confident communicator able to build relationships across finance and operational teams.
Highly organised with strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
