Reporting to: Managing Director 24 hour per week (0.64 FTE) Fixed term until 30 April 2027 32,000 - 35,000 per annum pro rata There is the scope to flex the spread of hours according the project needs within the total available during the contract

Overall Purpose



To be responsible for managing aspects of the Readying Wheal Martyn for the Future project (see separate project summary attached). Project manage the delivery of a capital project carrying out essential repairs and restoration to a historic building, to the expected high standards, budget and timetable. Major funding has been granted for this project via Arts Council England's Museum Estate and Development Fund (MEND) and match funding applications have been submitted. Develop secondary projects as specified and progress fundraising applications for these, where possible leading to practical delivery. Lead on the review of particular Wheal Martyn plans including the Masterplan and Interpretation Strategy.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities



Project management

Manage the successful delivery of the project, delivering agreed outputs and outcomes to a high standard, on time and within budget Coordinate meetings of the Project Team Complete regular reporting to the Project Team and Trustees Liaise with and submit reports and claims to funders, ensuring the project is delivered within their terms and conditions
Review of plans

Lead on the review of Wheal Martyn's Masterplan, Interpretation Strategy and Access Audit Manage tendering process for consultants as required and ensure the process is in accordance with NLHF procurement requirements Manage the appointed consultants to review the above strategies Carryout effective consultation with staff, stakeholders and user groups as appropriate
Development of projects

Project manage a capital project to repair/restore the Pan Kiln and Linhay extension (Building 14)
At the time of recruitment the major funder (Arts Council England's Museum Estate and Development Fund (MEND) scheme) is secured and a number of match funding applications have been submitted.

Develop, secure funding for, and project manage two key projects:
o Redisplay of Linhay gallery

o Essential repairs to Waterwheel and other historic features

Manage the design teams for the projects, including architects and QS (both appointed) and exhibition/interpretation designers (manage tender process for the latter) Manage the evaluation consultant contract (already appointed) Manage the appointed consultants to deliver RIBA work stage 4 - 7 for the Building 14 project Manage the appointed consultants to deliver plans to RIBA work stage 3 for the Linhay gallery project Manage budgets for all consultants Develop and submit funding bids to suitable funders for both projects On securing funding, project manage both projects, managing the appointed professional teams and contractors to ensure the capital projects are delivered to the expected high standards, budget and timetable Develop a range of smaller priority projects including but not limited to the 35' waterwheel restoration, creative workshop project, replacement of single glazing in the main building and redisplay of the area outside the Discovery Centre. Develop applications and submit funding bids to suitable trusts, foundations and other funders to deliver these projects Develop applications and submit funding bids to suitable trusts, foundations and other funders to deliver these projects Be the responsible person for all contracted build works and act as Client Representative as/when required.
Other duties

Write relevant progress and project completion reports for funders Take responsibility for health and safety of self, colleagues, customers and contractors

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS



EXPERIENCE

4.1 Minimum of five years as a project manager in the heritage sector

4.2 Heritage building restoration and conservation

4.3 Proven experience in successfully delivering major capital build projects

4.4 Proven experience of managing professional teams to deliver capital build works

4.5 Delivery of interpretation and exhibition projects

4.6 Experience of fundraising for capital projects including applications to statutory funders and trusts/foundations

4.7 Experience of managing funds from a variety of funders

4.8 Experience of working with Historic England and the National Lottery Heritage Fund

4.9 Construction (Design and Management) Regulations
