Job Description

We are looking for a Project and Engagement Officer to join our team.

This role will support the delivery of the Proactive Intervention and Prevention Programme (PIPP) in Breckland and North Norfolk, working alongside our Delivery and Partnership Manager and our team of Life Connectors to support individuals at risk of falls remain independent. You will help monitor delivery, provide operational support, lead on volunteer recruitment and coordination, and ensure effective communication between partners.

Alongside PIPP, you will also represent Community Action Norfolk (CAN) at engagement events, particularly in West Norfolk, helping to raise awareness of our work and strengthen links with local organisations. The role also includes contributing to CAN's wider communications, ensuring our messages are clear and accessible to the communities we serve.

Salary

: 26,617.17 per annum.

Fulltime

: 37 hours per week.

Contract

: until 30th September 2027 (with possibility of extension).

Hybrid (Remote working and working in our Dereham Office.)

About Us Community Action Norfolk is an independent charity. Our role is to help build a stronger and fairer Norfolk through support, empowerment and strategic partnership with voluntary, community and social enterprise organisations. We do this by:

Harnessing the value of connecting people and services in the communities of Norfolk. Supporting people to make a positive difference by providing information, advice, training and support for positive outcomes in the communities of Norfolk.
We provide direct support to over 500 voluntary community and social enterprise (VCSE) organisations a year across Norfolk with everything from funding advice and governance support to engagement and needs identification. We are the main organisation supporting the engagement of VCSE organisations in Norfolk. Through this we aim to build a positive dialogue between the VCSE sector and other key partners to collaboratively achieve the best possible outcomes for the people of Norfolk. We want to ensure Norfolk is a fair place for all, whoever they are, wherever they live. In a county where 53% of the population live in rural areas, rurality remains an important part of this. We run a wide range of programmes and projects from housing advice through to supporting isolated older people. Most of our delivery is undertaken in partnership with other organisations.

About The Role



The role encompasses four areas of our work:

Project Support for our Proactive Intervention and Prevention Programme (PIPP). Partner Support for the West Norfolk PIPP Project. Social Media Support - helping to deliver PIPP and Community Action Norfolk (CAN)'s messages across a range of mediums. Representing CAN at events and activities, particularly those in West Norfolk.
The Project and Engagement Officer plays a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth delivery of the Proactive Intervention and Prevention Programme (PIPP). Sitting just below the Partnerships and Delivery Coordinator, you will provide operational support across communications, learning and development, and volunteer engagement. You will take the lead in managing volunteers and maintaining clear, effective communication across partners, helping to showcase the impact of the programme and continually improve delivery. In addition, you will work with partners in the Borough of West Norfolk to support their delivery of the programme, and provide communications and event support across Community Action Norfolk's work, specifically in, but not limited to West Norfolk.

Key Responsibilities



Proactive Intervention and Prevention Partnership Duties:

Communications and Resources Coordinate PIPP project communications and create engaging content for the Ageing Well website. Develop and share client stories, podcasts and case studies in partnership with organisations such as Future Radio and other VCSEs. Design and produce marketing materials (digital and print) to promote PIPP activities and successes.

Learning and Development



Record notes and actions from Review Panel and Advisory Board meetings, ensuring timely follow-up with participants. Support implementation of training and development activities based on emerging client issues (e.g. digital exclusion, financial hardship). Coordinate distribution and collection of anonymised micro-surveys and feedback tools. Volunteer Engagement and Oversight Lead recruitment, deployment, and support of programme volunteers, including Ageing Well Ambassadors and Peer Mentors. Utilise existing Community Action Norfolk (CAN Connect) volunteers and recruit new volunteers as required. Coordinate volunteer activity alongside local partners and networks such as Voluntary Norfolk. Work with Life Connectors to identify additional volunteering opportunities and develop appropriate roles. Design and deliver a volunteer recruitment and retention strategy.

Engagement Core Duties:



This part of the role is to support Community Action Norfolk's general communications and engagement activities. You will work to ensure VCSE organisations and other stakeholders are kept informed of information relevant to their activities alongside ensuring the views, values and value of the VCSE sector are effectively communicated. You will support the promotion of particular activities as well as raising awareness on key social issues. Specifically:

To assist in the development and delivery of CAN Communications and Marketing Strategy. To represent Community Action Norfolk (CAN) at events across the county (but in West Norfolk in particular), sharing and disseminating information as it arises. o Assist in the marketing and promotion of CAN's projects, products and services. General Engagement Duties: Publish content in a wide range of formats, utilising a range of media channels and tailored for different audiences. This will include newsletter articles, press releases, website content, social media content, reports and leaflets. Support the correct use of all relevant brand materials and key messages in communications activity. Helping to promote and reinforce brand identities. Assist in design processes, delivering this directly where required. Support the identification of key stakeholders. Manage contact and other communications databases. Support project delivery, events and conferences where necessary. Attend relevant meetings as required. To provide regular and accurate recording and reporting. To help build strong relationships between local partners, communities and VCSE organisations. To help identify and, where appropriate, develop information resources for community groups. To undertake research as required. To produce written documentation, where appropriate, and undertake any general administration associated with the role. To contribute to the success of securing funding for Community Action Norfolk. To participate in Community Action Norfolk's system for monitoring and evaluating service provision including data entry onto our systems. To promote and sell Community Action Norfolk products and services where appropriate. To undertake such other reasonable tasks as the CEO (Chief Executive Officer) may from time to time require.

Person Specification Essential:



Experience coordinating volunteers, communications and/or project support within the Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) or public sector. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including marketing and content creation. Highly organised, with strong administrative and coordination skills. Able to build relationships and work collaboratively with a range of partners and stakeholders. Confident using Microsoft Office and relevant digital communication tools/web platforms. Desirable: Experience in health, care or community support settings. Understanding of ageing well, falls prevention or community development. Experience producing podcasts, digital media or case study content.
