Job Description


The NHS Blood & Transplant Technical and Scientific Development (TSD) team is a key team in the Blood Supply chain, performing a wide range of improvement and development projects to support the quality and safety of blood components for transfusion. We have an exciting opportunity for a candidate with strong operational change experience to support a key in-flight project within the Blood Irradiation TSD team. This role will be a 12-month secondment supporting two NHSBT Hospital Services departments through a departmental change, working closely with department managers and stakeholders to deliver the redesign of an operational area including relocation of equipment, improved layout, limited construction and process flows as required. The role will involve change control, risk assessment management, and financial costing. There will be a requirement to document the site requirements plus national data gathering for future planning and engagement of a similar change at the remaining Hospital Services sites. You will be required to lead and deliver your area of work, provide expert advice and generate innovative ideas to support service delivery with minimal impact on the day-to-day operations of the Hospital Services departments. You will join a supportive team working towards the same goal and will have a significant degree of individual responsibility. It is therefore important that you are able to communicate well, organise your own workload &deliver independentlyMain duties of the jobThe primary role is to lead a Specialist area in the Projects and Operational Support Team as Subject Matter Expert Working with Operational teams, MDT, Quality Assurance and CI colleagues to support and provide advice on the document review process, using expert knowledge and organisational and leadership skills. Leading on the strategy and implementation of Software system improvements, using expertise to drive appropriate changes to optimise the service for the user. Contribute to the design, build, testing and training out of software improvements for the specialist area. Actively leading by example to enable a culture of engagement, support, collaborative working and continuous improvement, ensuring the specialist area is represented and has a national voice. Lead on or support projects or operational change within the specialist area providing specialist advice on suitable strategic options.
