Hitachi Energy has an exciting opportunity for a Project Contract Management (Senior Professional), responsible for all aspects of contract management from tendering to the final execution. Key areas of responsibility: Developing contract strategy and project proposals based on the policies, requirements, budget and timescales, ensuring that they meet the agreed requirements.

How you'll make an impact:



Ensures the portfolio of contracts in the business follows contract and claim management methodologies in accordance with internal standard procedures. Reviews and comments on commercial and technical tender terms and conditions. Develops contract strategy based on Hitachi Energy's policies, customer requirements, and the overall execution strategy considering risk, pricing, scope, and time schedule. Identifies the contract baseline (including terms and conditions, specifications, drawings, estimate, proposal, time schedule and other documents incorporated in the contract) and highlights areas of potential risk / opportunities. Ensures timely and accurate execution of commercial aspects in portfolio of contracts (i.e. payments, claims, variation orders, warranties, provisions, guarantees, etc.). Assesses success of the contract and determines if there are any lessons learned for future contracting. Documents and communicates to all appropriate parties, any requirements as part of the closeout process. Contract and claims Establish and enforces standard change methodologies in portfolio of contracts to identify changes and quantify the additional time and compensation due to Hitachi Energy per the contract, defines approval requirements and communicates changes to the customer/partners/suppliers/subcontractors. Enforces and defends Hitachi Energy's contractual interests against the relevant parties during the whole of a project life cycle, including monitoring and assessment of changes and deviations, as well as defending and enforcing claims. In concert with Legal, develops the negotiation strategy and supports negotiations. Supports Legal handling formal dispute resolution, litigation and arbitration. Notifies and liaises with Legal to report major claims and keeps Legal updated of any critical development during project execution. Purchasing Supports drafting of Purchase Orders, Contracts, Supply Contracts and Subcontracts and ensures that relevant (sub/supply) contracts contain appropriate contract terms to protect Hitachi Energy's interest, including flow-down of main contract terms. Risk Management Analysis contract terms to highlight areas of potential opportunity and risk, such as ambiguities, omissions and conflicts, as work proceeds. If required, seeks advice from Legal to draft, negotiate and finalize agreements during the Sales and Project Execution phases. Develops and implements risk mitigation and opportunity plan in concert with Project Manager and/or Sales Manager. Insurance Ensures contract insurance provisions are adhered to and coordinates with Insurance Risk Management regarding occurrences that may be covered by customer or Hitachi Energy provided insurance. Export controls Seeks advice from Legal (Export Control) to ensure accurate handling of all export control matters and ensures close review of all contracts and projects regarding restrictions on exports, considering countries, customers or products involved and the respective laws and Hitachi Energy regulations. People leadership and development, ensures (with HR Manager support) that the area of responsibility is organized, staffed, skilled and directed. Guides, motivates and develops direct/indirect subordinates within HR policies.

Your Background:



In depth knowledge of construction law, contract administration and cost management are essential Strong educational history in Quantity Surveying / Contract Management Professional accreditation such as MRICS or similar is desirable Quantity Surveying and / or Law Degree is essential Strong Organizational, leadership and communication skills Experience working within high-profile, regulated environments Ability to manage priorities and deliver to tight deadlines Extensive experience working for a main contractor or OEM A proven track record in managing contracts and overseeing project costs Experience in the energy section is preferred but not essential Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail and strong communication skills are necessary to collaborate effectively with stakeholders
