About Bells for Heaven
Bells for Heaven is our national remembrance and peer support initiative, created to help bereaved families honour and remember their children during the Christmas season. Families walk together in local parades carrying handmade illuminated memory lanterns, offering a powerful act of public remembrance and community connection. At midday on Christmas Eve, we then encourage the nation to ring a bell at midday to remember all children spending Christmas in Heaven.
The Role
We are looking for a compassionate and highly organised
Project Coordinator
to help grow Bells for Heaven across Wales, with a view to national expansion in 2026. The successful candidate will:
Form and support an online peer support group for bereaved parents
Collaborate with schools, community groups, and arts organisations to create memory lanterns
Recruit and manage volunteers within the project and parades
Organise and manage participation in Christmas parades
Promote Bells for Heaven - online and in person
Manage the social media campaign for Bells for Heaven
Gather and respond to feedback from families and community participants
Develop school and community resources and toolkits to encourage community and school involvement in the creation and development of lanterns and local parades, giving communities the resources to grow their own bespoke bells for heaven projects withing their communities, whilst encouraging vital conversations around grief.
What We're Looking For
Experience in community engagement, event coordination, or a similar role
Experience of teaching - community based or schools, as the role will involve going into schools to deliver the craft project to children.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with empathy for bereaved families
Ability to work independently and as part of a small team
Flexibility to travel locally and occasionally nationally
Creativity and initiative to help expand and sustain the project
The ability to speak Welsh or willing to learn

Experience facilitating peer support groups or community networks.

Experience with logistical planning and scheduling.

Supporting arts and craft-based activities, like lantern-making.

Ability to engage children and adults in creative projects.

Gathering, interpreting, and acting on feedback from participants.
Clear verbal and written communication for reports, updates, and toolkit development.
Ability to communicate sensitively with bereaved families.
5. Organisational & Administrative Skills
Keeping accurate records, tracking project progress, and reporting on outcomes.
Managing budgets, resources, and travel for events.
Coordinating volunteers or other staff as needed.
6. Adaptability & Problem-Solving
Ability to respond flexibly to the unique needs of families and communities.
Creative problem-solving when facing challenges in outreach, participation, or logistics.
7. Digital & Social Media Skills (Optional but Beneficial)
Using social media to engage communities and share project updates.
Basic skills in using online tools for communication, surveys, and event promotion.
Qualifications
An undergraduate degree with relevance to the job description is expected.
Relevant experience
Experience in teaching children and adults.
An understanding or lived experience of child bereavement.
