About The Role

This position is responsible for implementing effective accounting procedures and management of all project costs associated with each project. The role acts as the primary point of contact for supplier finance teams and should ensure accurate and timely tracking, reconciliation and reporting of capital and operating expenditure across our supply chain. Support our Finance Manager for Operations in developing a highly effective function which drives positive results and excellent working relationships across the business.



What You'll Be DoingAct as the dedicated Project Cost Accountant for the TfL programme, ensuring accurate financial tracking and reporting across all associated projects. Allocate subcontractor costs accurately to the appropriate project, workstream, and cost category, ensuring alignment with contractual terms and project budgets. Prepare monthly journal entries in preparation and in the execution of month-end closings; Responsible for completion of data-intensive calculations of month-end processes. Perform monthly reconciliations between the general ledger (trial balance) and the Capex tracking file, investigating and resolving discrepancies. Support the preparation and submission of monthly Capex reports, including variance analysis and commentary for internal stakeholders. Collaborate closely with the Delivery Director, Project Managers, and the wider operations team to understand project progress, cost drivers and forecast changes. Process the capitalisation of assets in line with accounting policies when venues go live, ensuring timely and accurate updates to the fixed asset register. Support Operations and Finance with the accurate reporting of cash flow forecasts. Liaise with internal and external auditors, providing documentation, reconciliation, and explanations as required. Maintain robust audit trail for all project-related financial transactions and ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting standards. Contribute to the development and implementation of financial controls and reporting tools to improve accuracy, efficiency and transparency. Support the Finance Manager for Operations in driving continuous improvement and delivering high-quality financial insights to support decision-making.


What You'll BringProven experience of Cost Accounting practises, standards, systems and processes Knowledge of financial terms and principles Analytical & quantitative Skills, attention to detail/accuracy, problem solving skills. Experience dealing with Fixed Assets, Cost Accounting on multiple projects PC Software applications including Excel and Word A Degree qualification within a relevant field Experience within public accounting firm with commercial experience within the Construction (or similar) industry. Accounting Software Systems and Applications. Workday experience preferred.
