About the role
The British Museum is excited to announce recruitment for a Project Curator: Iron Age and Roman Coin Finds. The postholder will work as part of the Portable Antiquities Scheme (PAS) - a project to record archaeological finds made by the public to advance knowledge - but will be based in, and under the management of, the British Museum's department of Money and Medals. The PAS has recorded over 1.8 million finds, many of which are Iron Age and Roman coins (see finds.org.uk).
The main roles of the postholder will be to ensure the consistency and accuracy of Iron Age and Roman coin data recorded by the Scheme's network of locally based Finds Liaison Officers (FLOs), assisting in the delivery of training of FLOs. Additionally, they will support the Curator: Iron Age and Roman Coin Finds in research and publication of coin finds data from England and Wales. This data is transforming our knowledge of Iron Age and Roman Britain and we are keen that this postholder helps drive that work going forward.
