Project Director (Hyperscale Data Centres)

We at Smart4EPC are currently assisting our Top Ranked M&E client on their search for an accomplished

Project Director

to lead the delivery of large-scale

Hyperscale Data Centre

projects across the UK. This is a senior leadership opportunity to take full responsibility for complex, high-value MEP delivery -- ensuring projects are executed safely, efficiently, and to the highest technical and commercial standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Take full ownership of project delivery across

major hyperscale and mission-critical data centre projects.

Lead multi-disciplinary teams through all phases -- from pre-construction and design coordination to commissioning and client handover. Oversee mechanical systems including cooling, air handling, chilled water, and energy-efficient infrastructure solutions. Manage commercial performance, including budgeting, cost forecasting, and financial reporting. Foster strong relationships with clients, consultants, main contractors, and internal stakeholders. Ensure compliance with rigorous technical standards, health & safety, and environmental requirements. Provide leadership and mentoring to project managers and engineering teams, promoting technical excellence and best practice.

Role Requirements:

Proven track record as a

Project Director

or

Senior Project Manager

within the

MEP contracting or data centre delivery

environment. Strong

mechanical engineering background

, ideally degree-qualified or equivalent. Demonstrable experience managing

hyperscale or mission-critical

data centre projects, ideally in the UK or Europe. Exceptional leadership, stakeholder management, and communication skills. Commercially driven, with deep understanding of project governance and financial control. A proactive, solutions-oriented professional capable of delivering under pressure and to tight deadlines
