Role Purpose
The Project Engineer supports the planning, coordination, and delivery of engineering and compliance projects across serviced-accommodation and property portfolios. This includes overseeing safety inspections, maintenance coordination, and contractor supervision to ensure works meet legal, technical, and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
The Project Engineer will:
Schedule, manage, and oversee engineering projects to ensure quality, timeliness, and compliance within budget.
Plan work schedules and inspection programmes based on client requirements and regulatory frameworks.
Conduct and coordinate up to five (5) on-site technical inspections per month, including:
Fire-safety system checks and evacuation-route verification.
Plumbing and water-system inspections, including Legionella control and emergency leak response.
Electrical and MEP system audits and maintenance verification.
HMO and serviced-accommodation compliance inspections.
Supervise contractors during refurbishment, installation, and handover stages, ensuring design specifications are met.
Prepare and review engineering reports, inspection logs, and compliance documentation.
Identify defects, propose corrective actions, and monitor remedial works.
Manage budgets, resources, and timelines for assigned technical interventions.
Liaise with clients, suppliers, and local authorities to ensure engineering and safety compliance.
Ensure all systems and equipment meet statutory safety and operational standards.
Experience
The ideal candidate will possess:
Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or Building Services Engineering (or equivalent).
Relevant experience in engineering project coordination, building compliance, or MEP systems.
Knowledge of UK health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Strong understanding of property compliance frameworks (HMO, fire safety, Legionella).
Competence in preparing and interpreting technical reports and engineering drawings.
Strong technical, analytical, and organisational abilities.
Effective communication and contractor supervision skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with CAD or BIM tools.
Commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
