Working within the SP Distribution business, you'll be responsible for the planning and design of the district distribution network, ensuring system stewardship, network security, and integrity. You'll carry out system analysis to determine load/generation connections, network alterations, and reinforcement requirements, delivering solutions aligned with Asset Management policies and customer needs.
Key Responsibilities include:Manage connection requests and quotations in line with regulatory and licence requirements. Agree scope, volumes, and unit costs to optimise value from regulatory contracts. Integrate asset stewardship values through sound engineering principles and coordinated planning. Lead 3rd party Point of Connection and design approvals within SPM and SPD licence areas. Drive performance improvement through analysis of outputs and feedback. Apply innovative solutions across technological, procedural, and commercial aspects. Produce cost-efficient designs aligned with authorised prime costs. Build and maintain strong stakeholder and customer relationships. Promote a safety-first culture across all design activities.
What you'll bringExpert knowledge of design standards up to 11kV. Strong understanding of the regulatory environment and incentive mechanisms. Commercial awareness with a focus on customer service and ROI. Effective stakeholder and customer engagement skills. Strong communication and presentation abilities. Ability to manage competing priorities using sound engineering and financial judgement. Awareness of key business drivers and external commercial context. Technical and operational experience in a relevant engineering role. Developed skills with network analysis modelling tools. Ability to devise solutions to complex problems.

Essential CriteriaElectrical or Mechanical Engineering/Professional qualification or equivalent experience. Experience in a network design role (preferred) Relevant UK network construction and operational experience. Computer literacy.
