The Project Engineer will support the delivery of engineering projects by providing technical expertise, coordination, and project management support. This role ensures that engineering activities are executed safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards while maintaining compliance with client and company policies. To work in partnership with and to support the senior management team at Redcar in the day to day running of the operation with a particular focus on uptime and reliability.

Your core responsibilities.



Assist in planning, organising, and executing engineering activities, supporting schedules, budgets, and deliverables while coordinating between clients, contractors, and internal teams. Track project performance, identify risks, and recommend corrective actions to keep delivery on target. Provide engineering input and solutions to meet project requirements, reviewing drawings, specifications, and documents for accuracy and compliance. Ensure adherence to codes, standards, client specifications, and Biffa requirements across all project activities. Promote a strong safety culture, ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality requirements, and carry out inspections and audits. Act as liaison between the client and Biffa, ensuring clear communication, reporting, and alignment across multidisciplinary teams. Maintain accurate technical records, correspondence, and reports, ensuring compliance with Biffa documentation policies. Support preparation of handover packages and as-built documentation to ensure a smooth transition at project completion.

Requirements



Here's what we require:



Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or relevant discipline) Full UK driving licence Health & Safety certification (IOSH or NEBOSH) Understanding of engineering drawings and principles, with the ability to design and specify new electrical or mechanical installations Experience in process/lean improvement projects, achieving defined KPIs Experience with PO recycling equipment, polymer processing, recycling process equipment, AutoCAD, and knowledge of lean methodologies (Six Sigma, 8D, Kaizen) (desirable)
