to support the planning and offshore execution of subsea construction, IRM, and decommissioning scopes for one of our Aberdeen-based clients. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering safe and efficient engineering solutions in support of diving and ROV operations across a variety of offshore environments.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Plan and develop dive-related work scopes
, including method statements, procedures, risk assessments, and lift plans.
Act as offshore engineering representative
for subsea and dive operations on DSVs, CSVs, and ROVSVs.
Provide real-time engineering support offshore
, resolving technical anomalies and adapting plans as needed.
Interface with divers, ROV crews, vessel personnel, and client representatives
to coordinate safe and effective operations.
Manage third-party contractors
and ensure alignment with project requirements and safety standards.
Lead pre-mobilisation activities
, including equipment preparation, mobilisation planning, and vessel readiness checks.
Oversee the execution of subsea activities
such as:
Flexible/rigid pipe lay (S-lay, J-lay, reel lay)
Riser installations (Lazy-S, buoyancy-supported)
Umbilical pull-ins and spool tie-ins
Structure recovery and decommissioning
Cable lay and trenching operations
Prepare technical documentation
, including engineering reports, as-built records, and close-out reports.
Collaborate with onshore project teams
to ensure continuity and knowledge transfer across project phases.
Ensure compliance with offshore safety protocols
, including toolbox talks (TBTs), permit to work systems (PTWs), and SIMOPS.
Contribute to project scheduling
, ensuring timely completion of deliverables and minimizing vessel downtime.
Support tendering and commercial proposals
by contributing engineering input and reviewing technical feasibility.
Mentor junior engineers
and provide technical leadership as required.
Essential Requirements
Degree (MEng/BEng) in Mechanical, Offshore, or Subsea Engineering
Chartered Engineer (IMechE or equivalent) preferred
Strong background in offshore diving operations (air/sat)
7+ years of offshore project engineering experience in oil & gas or subsea construction
Proven experience working on DSVs and construction vessels
Valid offshore certificates: BOSIET, CA-EBS, Offshore Medical
Proficient in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, OrcaFlex, SolidWorks, etc.
