As Venterra continues to expand, we are on the lookout for a Project Engineer (UXO) to enhance our team. The selected candidate will work from our Hethel, Norwich office.

Role Description:

As a UXO Project Engineer, you will be responsible for analysing offshore geophysical survey data - including Multibeam Echosounder, Side-Scan Sonar, Sub-Bottom Profiler, and Magnetometer data - to identify potential UXO targets requiring further investigation. You will also produce ALARP certificates, ensuring identified targets and associated risks are reduced to acceptable levels. Finally, you may need to prepare detailed desktop study risk assessments and risk mitigation strategies, utilising historical and archived data to develop clear and actionable risk management approaches.

This role is predominantly office-based, though occasional site visits and associated travel may be required. Working autonomously, you will also collaborate closely within a multidisciplinary team to deliver UXO risk assessments and mitigation strategies in support of infrastructure, telecoms, and renewable energy projects.

Key Responsibilities:

Analysing incoming geophysical data from offshore surveys (Multibeam Echosounder, Side-Scan Sonar, Sub-Bottom Profiler, Magnetometer) to identify potential UXO threats. Preparing comprehensive technical reports, ALARP certificates, project bridging documents, and technical notes in compliance with company standards and client specifications. Utilising GIS and specialist geophysical software such as Oasis Montaj to process, interpret, and present data clearly and effectively. Generating accurate GIS maps and charts to communicate UXO risk assessments and findings effectively to clients and stakeholders. Undertaking desktop studies using archived historical data to prepare UXO risk assessments and detailed mitigation strategies. Providing proactive client engagement throughout project phases to communicate progress, milestones, and final deliverables clearly. Collaborating closely with project managers to ensure timely and budget-conscious delivery of UXO risk mitigation tasks. Supporting tender preparations with technical expertise and providing consultancy on UXO risk management to internal and external stakeholders. Reviewing technical specifications, drawings, and survey data meticulously to ensure project compliance and accuracy. Editing, proofreading, and ensuring the quality and compliance of reports prior to client distribution. Conducting research on emerging technologies, methods, and equipment relevant to UXO identification and risk mitigation. Managing and updating project databases and internal documentation systematically for accurate tracking and invoicing.

Key Skills/Experience/Competencies:

Strong analytical skills for interpreting offshore geophysical survey data. Skilled user of GIS software platforms such as ESRI ArcPro, and specialist geophysical analysis tools such as Oasis Montaj. Familiarity with UXO types, hazards, relevant legislation, and industry standards. Excellent written communication skills, with a proven ability to prepare clear technical reports and documentation. Familiarity with risk assessment methodologies and ALARP principles. Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively. Effective collaboration and client engagement abilities. Commitment to maintaining strict safety protocols in all field and office activities. Experience in UXO risk management and offshore renewables would be an advantage.

Education/Qualifications:

A Bachelor's or Master's Degree in geophysics, or related disciplines.
