We are seeking an experienced Project Estimator to join our construction team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role within our bidding process. You will contribute to PQQ and ITT submissions, preparing accurate project bids, managing cost estimates, obtaining supply quotes and negotiating with key bidders. This position offers an opportunity to work on diverse construction projects, utilising your expertise in estimating on varied general construction projects. The Project Estimator will collaborate closely with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure precise pricing and effective value engineering, setting up cost control documents to aid project surveying.
Responsibilities
Develop comprehensive construction estimates by analysing project plans, specifications, and other relevant documentation.
Utilise software to prepare detailed bid proposals and cost analyses.
Conduct negotiations with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to secure competitive pricing and favorable contract terms.
Assist in the preparation of bid packages, proposals, and contract documents aligned with project requirements.
Support project teams by providing accurate cost forecasts
Perform quantity take-offs and evaluate labour, material, equipment costs, and other expenses associated with construction projects.
Collaborate with construction site teams to gather insights on site conditions that impact estimates and project execution.
Monitor industry trends, market conditions, and new technologies related to construction estimating to improve accuracy and efficiency.
Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, safety standards, and company policies throughout the estimation process.
Requirements
Proven experience in construction estimating, preferably within commercial construction projects.
Experience with Bidworks and Conquest an advantage but not necessary.
Strong negotiation skills for engaging with clients, vendors, and subcontractors effectively.
Solid understanding of construction processes, contracts, cost control measures, and scheduling.
Knowledge of construction site operations and experience working on or around active construction sites is a plus.
Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail in preparing accurate estimates and budgets.
Ability to interpret complex drawings, specifications, and technical documents related to construction projects.
Effective communication skills for coordinating with internal teams and external stakeholders. This role is integral to the successful securing of our projects by ensuring accurate cost estimation, fostering strong client relationships through negotiation, and supporting overall project management efforts.
