We are currently recruiting experienced Civil project managers/Engineers, who are looking for a challenging role in civils project management within our Essex based civils division.

The role

You will play an active role in all stages of our projects from feasibility through to completion and have the opportunity to work collaboratively in multi-disciplinary design teams. You will have the freedom to improve existing working methods, by finding efficiencies in processes and applying new techniques.

What you'll be doing

You will take ownership of all aspects of a project, from Tender, contract award, enabling works through to practical completion and handover.

You will apply and develop your engineering expertise and creativity to shape our projects. Through your appreciation of client needs and your attention to detail, you will maximise value for our clients whilst minimising environmental impact.

To take ownership of all aspects of each project under your control, from enabling works through to practical completion Advise on contract procurement routes, selecting appropriate contractors and professional teams Provide project direction, focus and consistency to contractors Optimise scheme - ensure revenue opportunities are maximised and scheme is operationally efficient Attend weekly internal team meetings to communicate work completed and next actions Attend site as required to ensure progress is being made in line with programme and budget Identify reasons for delayed progress and create practical solutions to resolve Attend weekly design meetings to challenge all operational, architectural, servicing, structural and construction assumptions Work with Procurement Manager to challenge all suppliers to achieve best value procurement.

The ideal Project Manager will have:

5+ years Project / Site management experience working for a main contractor and a background in Civils Degree qualified in a Civil Engineering related field/ Construction Management or related course (or equivalent relevant experience) Client facing Experience managing multiple sites Experience managing direct staff and subcontractors Trade background ideal Experience with National Grid contracts Knowledge of the Electrical Transmission and Distribution industry is essential Previous project management experience gained within electrical infrastructure H&S experience and generating RAMS, CPP and ITP An awareness of Project, Contract and Stakeholder management and client representative experience
