We are seeking an experienced Construction Project Manager to oversee and coordinate construction projects from inception to completion. Responsible for the successful delivery of projects, on or ahead of programme and within budget, including programming, labour management, coordination, and budgeting of all construction and maintenance activities. Ensures that Health & Safety standards are implemented and maintained to the highest level throughout the project. Oversees a defect-free handover and ensures that a comprehensive project completion plan is implemented and communicated back to the Estimating team.
Responsibilities
Working at a senior level with the internal Construction Division management team and supporting departments.
Overall project management of assigned project/s including programme progress, cost control, direct labour management and management of subcontractors.
As a member of the Construction management team you will be required to participate in certain strategic discussions, planning and decisions within the CHAP Group.
Your role is to set the standard for Quality and Health & Safety and lead by example.
Line management supervision, support and mentoring of direct reports including identifying training needs of your staff.
Project programming - to take tender programme and develop into a construction programme by studying project specifications to determine appropriate construction methods; schedule the project in logical steps and budget time required to meet/beat deadlines (carry out weekly drop lines to review Progress V Planned).
Project design team liaison - conclude work package schedules / IRS (Information Requirement Schedules) chair DT (Design Team) meetings to ensure information is timeously requested and concluded.
Confer with supervisory personnel, subcontractors and designers to discuss and resolve potential construction problems as they arise and bottom out timeously.
Ensure compliance with IMS and quality management systems. Develop and implement quality control programmes, proactively managing inspection workflow.
Oversee / undertake site inspections on a daily basis to ensure progress is recorded as well as ensuring H&S issues are picked up and alerted to your team / sub contractors.
Oversee and implement monitoring of compliance with building and safety codes and other regulations.
Liaise with public utilities, local authorities and NHBC (where applicable) to ensure relevant orders are placed and consultation takes place to meet the project programme.
Ensure statutory notices, warning notices and advisory notices, fire escape signs and relevant posters are displayed in workplace and are adhered to accordingly.
Determine labour and material requirements for site. Support Ops Director /SCM to source/manage labour as necessary.
Initiate & monitor site requisitions for supplies, materials and plant to ensure these are correct. Carry out random checks against bills and liaise with QS on inaccuracies.
Monitor and manage sub-contractors from appointment through contract progress and after project conclusion including safety, quality and performance. Manage and chair/attend sub-contractor meetings as required.
Experience & Qualifications
Proven experience as a Construction Project Manager or similar role within the civil engineering or construction industry.
In-depth experience within a Contracts Manager, Project Manager, Senior Site Manager or similar role within the construction sector.
Excellent time management and prioritisation skills.
Essential to have CSCS card
Driving is essential
Relevant qualifications in civil engineering or construction management are preferred but not essential if accompanied by substantial practical experience.
