Essential Skills / Qualifications / Attributes
Strong technical knowledge of building services systems, ensuring fully compliant and functional installations for high rise residential buildings, as well as commissioning and troubleshooting (Mech & Plumbing bias).
Must have good communication skills and adapt these as necessary/appropriate.
Must be able to build trust and confidence through competence, consistently delivering on promises, and promoting clear and timely communications with customers, colleagues, supply chain, and other project stakeholders.
Must have good IT Skills in Microsoft Outlook ,Word, and Excel minimum.
Must have good commercial awareness and good win-win negotiation skills.
Excellent time management skills and proven in achieving safe, quality, on-time/early, on/under-budget, project delivery.
Qualifications: Recognised qualification in Building Services Engineering or other appropriate engineering subject is preferred. Candidates without formal engineering qualifications may be considered if they have acquired sufficient experience to demonstrate competence in the skills necessary to fulfil the role. NEBOSH Construction Certificate, or SMSTS, or IOSH Managing Safely certified.
Min 8years MEP contractor project experience, 5years in Contract Engineer / Contract Management / Project Management role, leading delivery of mechanical building services projects/packages in the range 500k-8m value for high rise residential projects.
Experience of resource and logistics planning as well as engaging with sub-contractors on their packages, including in respect of sub-contractor management, co-ordination and negotiations to ensure successful outcomes.
Value engineering experience.
Good awareness of commercial risks and opportunities.
Highly organised and driven individual committed to delivering excellence through great teamwork, sound decision making, with thorough and timely communications.
Positive project leadership qualities who can drive a project forward with the right culture around SKEB (competence) - in particular in respect of fostering positive project and site team behaviours that will ensure BSA compliance for the project under their control.

Desirable Skills:
Electrical building services knowledge / trades co-ordination and interface management experience.
Experience subcontracting to medium/large main contractor customers.
Safe pair of hands in contract negotiations and dispute resolution. Naturally honourable, firm, and fair.
Working knowledge of Procore construction management software and Microsoft Project.
Duties:
For their assigned project(s) - Know the Contract, Know the Design, Know the Progamme. Resource it cost effectively and deliver it efficiently on all of the metrics associated with these - while leading a positive and pro-active team culture in respect of health and safety, and quality of workmanship throughout.
Attend, and chair where appropriate, meetings with customers, designers, specialist contractors and other stakeholders as required.
Contribute to and/or produce progress updates and attend project meetings as required.
With support, review designers and contractors' drawings for completeness of information and ensure compliance with contract and functional requirements (specification, employers requirements, tech-subs etc) and all applicable regulations. Notify relevant parties of any discrepancies in timely manner and ensure thorough records are kept.
Sets the culture and tone for project and site teams and carries the primary responsibility for ensuring safety compliance for the project (applicable to all works within Kimpton scope, including our staff and our sub-contractors).
Ensures actions required by the project and/or site team, or supply chain, or customer are properly and promptly closed out.
Responsible for delivering the building services engineering supply and installation, and associated commissioning and handover, in accordance with the contract, the design, and the applicable regulations.
Ensures all resources under their control are suitably competent (having the necessary SKEB - Skills, Knowledge, Experience, Behaviours) to undertake the tasks and scope required of them in full compliance with the Building Safety Act 2022 and the Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974.
Plan and manage the project in respect of resourcing, programme, safety, budget, quality assurance, and coordination of the scope of works under their control.
Resource projects appropriately and with consideration of the capacity/capability of those resources to ensure success (considering also the wider company exposure - beyond a single project). Ensure best value for money (competitive tenders / better buying etc).
Bring positive drive to the whole project team to consistently deliver on our promises. Being relentless in building the company reputation for excellence. Always delivering projects safely, on-time or early, to all required quality standards, and bettering company net profit margins.
Visit site regularly to inspect ongoing installations for compliance with contract requirements and Industry best practice. Ensure all project related QA is delivered as relevant to the scope, and company procedures are followed.
Responsible for the complete delivery of the building services engineering works on their projects to meet all contractual obligations. Ensure all required records are completed and copies retained using company systems, and ensure all required customer management system records / submissions are also completed as required.
Establish and sub-contractor and supply chain contracts appropriately and properly. Manage them effectively, ensuring adherence to contract conditions and ensure risks are mitigated by effectively passing this down our supply chains in a back to back manner to the full extent possible.
Address issues promptly and share expected and current risks/problems in a timely manner with internal company senior team. Ensure appropriate internal commercial resources are engaged when necessary to assist before molehills become mountains.
Manage the project budget, cash flow, and mitigate commercial risks. Negotiate final account success as required.
Ensure handovers are well planned resourced, and managed, including (where applicable) soft landings. Always aim to 'handover well.'
To deliver on margins, cash, and net profit, as well as customer retention, and maintaining a robust supply chain.
Maintain own CPD appropriately and adequately to constantly maintain and/or grow competence, and ensure same of any staff reports.
To engage with, and support, the work of the wider team in any tasks reasonably required, retaining at all times alignment with our FIT values.
Anything else reasonably required in the continuous improvement of the business and its teams, or in support of enhancing its reputation with customers and/or the profitability of the business as a whole.
