Job Summary
A great opportunity for a Project Manager to join our established Ministry of Justice sector within Mace, which is currently experiencing an exciting and sustained period of growth. The existing team has a proven track record of successfully delivering a wide variety of projects of the highest quality across the MoJ prison portfolio. You will be working on a project within large programme of works with an Alliance Framework Contractor and established professional team. The projects incorporate the latest Modern Methods of Construction and standardised processes. As part of the role, the successful candidate will lead the delivery of the project through the construction phase which has recently started. This role sits in our consultancy business, specifically the justice sector.
This position will suit a candidate looking to further their career that is fast passed and industry leading. This is a client-facing role based partly on site where you will be responsible for managing wider consultant teams and project stakeholders and working with the project team to deliver the project successfully. The project is for the delivery of new prisoner places at a prison near Hull. The works comprise construction of new buildings along with some refurbishment/upgrade of existing facilities. This role will provide experience in project delivery throughout the construction stage to meet defined time, cost, technical performance & quality requirements. You will be highly motivated, understand developing a project plan, identify any specialist requirements and support with leading an existing professional team to drive forward the clients' strategy. You will be responsible for management of necessary project governance and assurance tools to fulfil our obligations. As Project Manager you will successfully lead in all aspects of delivery by building strong working relationships with clients and colleagues and supply chain members. The role entails hybrid working with attendance on site - exact requirements can be flexible but ideally based 2-3no. days a week on site and spending the remaining days working from home or a Mace regional office as required.
EL1 vetting clearances will be required.
Key Job Responsibilities
Determines project management, technical services and external resources required for project/s.
Delivers project objectives in line with the Project Execution Plan, leads and supervises the project team/s and relevant stakeholders to achieve strategic project key performance indicators (KPIs).
Monitors and actively engages in Health, Safety and Wellbeing aspects of the project at all stages.
Prepares and modifies where necessary project plans and keeps them updated and relevant over the course of the project/s.
Oversees project timeframes and project budgets, and ensures budgets are managed diligently and highlights any risks, challenges and mitigations.
Collaborates with relevant parties/stakeholders and ensures robust quality systems are in place and suitably managed and monitored.
Leads relevant meetings, providing relevant parties with contextual information and analysis where required and site walks and ensures these are suitably recorded.
Partners with relevant stakeholders and is actively involved in risk management.
Effectively coordinates and communicates with all project parties/stakeholders, ensuring completion of responsibilities/tasks and ensures suitable standards and records are recorded and maintained.
Documents and takes ownership of project changes as and when necessary, tracking project changes.
Works collaboratively towards the common goal of net zero carbon transition, and share responsibility for the proactive identification and management of the associated carbon emissions and reductions during the delivery of work.

Essential Desirable
Substantial previous work experience in project management (or equivalent).
MCIOB/MAPM/MRICS (or working towards) or local equivalent.
Tertiary qualifications in related (project management and/or construction related discipline), non-related degree or equivalent professional experience / apprenticeship, combined with a demonstrable intermediate level of role knowledge.
Appropriate Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card or equivalent.
Prince2 (or alternative local equivalent).
Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) or local equivalent.
Potential Career Progression Roles
Career progression horizontally may involve other project manager roles at P4/M2, across a function or cross functionally, to build a broader professional skill set.
