About the role
The role:
Oversee the end-to-end software development lifecycle, from initial planning, requirement analysis, estimation, and design to development, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
Assembling and maintaining project plans, agreeing sprint content prioritisation and the subsequent allocation of team assignments to deliver this.
Identifying resource needs for agreed work packages and escalating any issues appropriately.
Communicating with stakeholders to understand requirements and provide project updates, including transparency on velocity and burndown.
Working with R&D PMO to provide technical solutions to meet requirements.
Managing the technical delivery of software while ensuring it is well architected and maintainable and testable.
Providing architectural design and development direction when required.
Recognising and mitigating risk in the agreed delivery to the customer, managing and communicating any concerns to minimise impact.
Identifying delivery process improvements to drive continuous improvement.
Leading/conducting code reviews and ensuring adherence to coding standards and best practices.
Prioritisation of backlogs and bug fixes
Coaching to encourage growth of more junior members of the software team.

Your Qualifications
Role Requirements
Education/Qualifications
Degree in electronic / software engineering or equivalent
Related Experience
Experience of leading and making improvements to software development methodologies and processes
Experience in configuration control and change processing
Experience of leading embedded software engineering development projects through the software lifecycle
Proven experience of leading and managing fast-paced teams.
In-depth knowledge of software development principles and best practices.
An in-depth understanding of automated testing methods, frameworks, and their application
Proven experience of developing/working with release management processes and best practices
Can easily shift between the "big picture" and the small-but-crucial details as required.
+ Experience in Embedded software as well as APIs/Web services
Experience in configuration control and change processing
Skills, Special Competencies
Embedded C / C++ skills using structured and OO methodologies.
Code analysis, unit testing, verification and validation
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Familiarity of Atlassian tools such as JIRA and Confluence
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and establishing good development practices.
An understanding of SIL rated software would be beneficial.
