The Transmission team has an opportunity for a Project Manager to join them in Blackburn.



About the Opportunity




As a Project Manager you will be responsible for the development and successful delivery to time, cost, and scope targets of a varied portfolio of projects related to Electricity North West's Transmission system.


Working with switchgear, transformers, overhead line, cable, and protection systems, at voltages up to 132kV, you will manage all aspects of your projects during their life cycle, including scope development, cost, programme, design, planning, approval, construction, commissioning, commercial management, final handover and closure.


In this Project Manager (Transmission) role, you can expect to:

Ensuring that the value of work and costs (and thereby accruals) are correctly recognised in Chime and SAP, reviewing, and confirming this on a monthly basis in line with ENW policy. Chime data input in support of this responsibility is to be actioned through the Project Controllers. Understanding and clarifying project needs with Electricity North West's Asset Management section. Establishing and leading Project Teams to ensure projects are developed and executed appropriately. Developing project scope, estimate and programme to meet key dates, outputs and target costs. Obtaining and expediting project approvals at key milestones. Managing projects throughout the construction phase, including scope clarification and changes, maintaining programmes, value of work and key date forecasts. Fulfilling the role of CDM Principal Designer for each of your projects. Management of the relationship with third party contractors working on allocated projects. Ensuring that all work is carried out in accordance with Health and Safety legislation and Electricity North West Codes of Practice.
Responsible for responding to Finance reviews and testing of project status on a timely basis.



Who we are looking for



To apply for this Project Manager role, you will need a minimum of an HNC level qualification in electrical engineering and experience working within the electricity or utility environment. You will also require the following:

Recognised Project Management certification(desirable). Are experienced in the application of financial systems and capital investment processes (desirable). Are a chartered member of a professional body (desirable). Have highly developed project management skills, with an excellent understanding of resource management, project costing and the resolution of conflicts and dependencies. Have demonstrable experience of managing high value technical projects featuring multiple disciplines. Are highly organised with a strong focus on quality together with excellent attention to detail and highly developed problem-solving skills. Are an excellent written and verbal communicator. Have excellent numerical and analytical skills. Are an expert practitioner in the application of MS Project or equivalent systems in the detailed management of construction projects. Are highly proficient in the use of the full MS Office suite of programs. Hold a full, valid UK driving licence (essential).
