What will be your role in the company?
The Project Support Engineer supports the Performance Manager and technical team in managing safety, reliability, warranty claims, and technical issues related to the rolling stock fleet. The role involves analysing vehicle data, client reports, and defect records to ensure the safe and reliable operation of passenger service vehicles. Occasional support to other CAF projects may also be required.
Your daily duties will include:
Liaise with customers to discuss incident delays, record and track daily performance reviews related to SAF and TIN attribution.
Provide support and input into investigations of Safety Related Defects (SRDs).
Utilise GMAO, LeadMind, or other data sources to produce detailed trend analyses of vehicle system and component failures for inclusion in reports or for review in technical meetings.
Assist and advise of epidemic/systematic failures, proposing and coordinating mitigation measures (e.g. campaigns, modifications), collaborating with the CAF Spain DIP coordinator and suppliers.
Track the progress of WECRs (Warranty Engineering Change Requests) and ECRs (Engineering Change Requests) applicable to the project, working closely with the CAF Spain DIP coordinator.
Provide general materials engineering support and technical problem-solving for technical and procurement departments.
Identify and propose modifications to improve fleet reliability.
Keeps track of the status and progress of modifications and reports as required.
Prepare detailed technical investigative reports on significant safety and technical faults.
Support the Performance Manager and Production Support Manager in prioritising modifications and campaigns, providing necessary supporting documentation.
Develop and maintain close working relationships with Rail Services After Sales Engineering (Spain), as well as other Performance Engineers and Managers within CAF Rail UK.
Coordinate technical aspects of Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and Warranty Claims in coordination with OEMs, covering failure attribution, cost allocation, and development of solutions affecting safety, reliability, or availability.
On occasion carry out other activities in line with your expertise to assist the business requirement
Ensure full alignment with the Project LEO (Lider de Excelencia Operativa), providing all required inputs and supporting any improvement initiatives within the context of the RSNEXT program or future programs.
What salary will you be paid for this role?
As a Real Living Wage Employer, we are proud to pay competitively at CAF. For this role you will be offered a salary of 66,000 per annum.
What will make you successful in this position?
To succeed in this role, you will need:
Level 6 Engineering Degree or higher. Candidates with lower qualifications may also be considered if supported by exceptionally strong and relevant experience.
The ability to act decisively and solve vehicle, or equipment-related problems.
Extensive ICT literacy, including experience in various technologies and programs such as ERP systems, CMMS, Microsoft Office, and others.
Effective communication skills, able to communicate in a multi-national and culturally diverse organization.
Initiative, can work alone to achieve results effectively.
Team player, works collaboratively and uses influence to gain resolution of issues.
Problem solving, thoroughly assesses every side of a situation before deciding on an appropriate course of action.
