We are looking for Project Support Officers to be part of our wider support team that assists projects across the South-East supporting the delivery of exciting, innovative projects that reduce the risk of flooding to communities and enhance the environment. This is a valued role with a diverse range of work enabling us as a team to deliver on our ambitious targets, giving you an in-depth understanding of flood risk projects.



You will support Project Managers to deliver their projects and complete office administrative tasks for the whole team. You will become involved in a range of activities such as handling and processing data, tracking finances, setting up new project workspaces, organising meetings and taking minutes, preparing notice of entry letters and public newsletters, ordering site signage, running reports, and accompanying Project Managers on site visits.



You'll develop your interpersonal skills, building a network of professional relationships. You will learn how to apply legislation, policy and guidance and use your communication skills with wide and diverse teams. You will be fully immersed in a professional project management service. As you grow in confidence, we'll also support your ambitions too, helping you use the experience as a springboard for your career.



Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.
The team
We are Programme and Contracts Management (PCM), creating a better place through excellence in project and programme management.




Our team provides the Environment Agency with effective project and programme management, managing projects throughout their lifecycle, delivering flood risk management, environmental improvements and shared ownership with local communities.




This post sits within a team of Project Executives and Project Managers who manage the day-to-day delivery of projects within our flood and coastal erosion risk management programme.
Experience/skills required
Essential:

Excellent communication skills, with a variety of audiences.

Organised, able to use initiative and planning skills.

Experience in accurate data management, report writing and presenting relevant information to stakeholders.

Experience in using MS Office, particularly Teams, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines, with relevant support.

Able and willing to coordinate activities with others.

Desirable:

A Levels (or equivalent). Subjects that may be particularly advantageous include maths/statistics, geography, English, environmental studies, business studies, economics, and computer science.

This role interacts with many different contacts across the Environment Agency, so a background of working in a customer-facing environment, demonstrating good communication skills useful.


You should be positive, keen to help colleagues and take pride in your work.

Knowledge or experience in the use of SharePoint would be advantageous but not essential

Experience or exposure of working in a project environment also advantageous but not essential.

Although dispersed through offices across the region we create collaborative spaces to share learning and develop our people. The role may occasionally require travel to other offices, project sites and overnight.
