John Crane in Manchester is seeking to recruit a Project Tendering Engineer

to join the company on a permanent basis.

The appointee will be responsible for providing bidding support to Customers, selecting appropriate company products, and producing high quality technical and commercial quotations/bids.

The role holder will join our Manchester-based team with the opportunity to work from home up to 2 days per week.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • The scope of the role is to select our products and produce high quality, technical/commercial, timely Quotations/Bids (and revisions) for any product using the company quotation tool (C4C);
  • Assess additional information needed to accompany a bid, such as calculations of key technical outputs relative to the particular product, general arrangement drawings, sketches, P&ID or other pictorial representations,
  • Create alternative offers and reasoned argumentation of Features/Benefits to assist in \'selling\' of the product/service;
  • Create and maintain a system to track the background to a bid/quote;
  • Accurately review/capture Customer Specifications, ensuring all technical, commercial, financial, quality & contractual aspects are identified and select product;
  • To deal professionally with the needs of the Customer, taking full responsibility and accountability to ensure they experience exceptional Customer Service at all times;
  • Able to specify and raise requests for proposals or general arrangement drawings.

The Individual
  • Strong Technical / Engineering background (ideally HND or Engineering Degree or equivalent), with an understanding of bidding and all commercial aspects;
  • Basic knowledge of rotating equipment would be an advantage (ideally experience with pumps, compressors, mixers or related components, i.e. valves, actuators, seals, couplings, bearings, etc.);
  • Able to read engineering datasheets and interpret technical drawings;
  • Good IT knowledge (MS Office);
  • Good customers service skills with Strong commercial acumen;
  • Able to work effectively in a dynamic and pressured environment;
  • Excellent organisational, prioritisation and time management skills;
  • A proactive person, able to work as part of a team.
