Responsible for: To provide routine advice and guidance to: 1. Opportunity Zone Workers 2. Sessional, Support and voluntary workers 3. Agency workers and new members of staff.
JOB SUMMARY
1. To provide high quality personal, social and emotional care for clients within day care setting.
2. To care for and beware of the needs of people who attend day centre and help them achieve a fulfilled, self determined and dignified life.
3. To take part in the care planning process and provide care for individual clients to meet the objectives of agreed personal care plans.
4. To work within the sections philosophy of care at all time, promoting equality of opportunity, choice, privacy, dignity, rights independence and fulfilment for clients. 5. To provide ongoing support those are affected by difficulties related to physical or sensory disability, learning difficulties, or mental illness.
6. You are expected to complete their duties as part of high quality passenger transport services.
7. You are responsible to the Opportunity Zone Manager or in his absence to the Opportunity Zone Deputy Manager.
8. You must be over 21 and under 70 years old, have held a full clean UK driving license for at least 2 years and have had no motoring convictions for at least five years and no bans for at least ten years.
9. You must have a D1/PCV license.
10. You are expected to have extensive driving experience, especially larger vehicles.
11. You will be dealing extensively with learning difficulties and multiple disabled people. The driver must demonstrate an ability to deal sensitively to their needs.
12. You are authorized to carry Opportunity Zone driving duties and to carry out specified tasks in compliance with Tower Hamlets Community Transport and MiDAS procedures.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Specific Duties
1) To monitor the health and general wellbeing of clients and report any problems to Apasen office to contact of the appropriate emergency service should there be a need.
2) Collecting the minibus keys from the garage and checking the bus thoroughly. For example check the tail lift is working, correct clamps, and check first aid box is adequately stocked. etc.
3) Making sure all clients fasten their seat belts and avoid any conflicts between clients during Journeys.
4) Teamwork is essential you must work closely with your escort to ensure safety of your clients.
5) Drivers must also liaise with each other and take the responsibility to hand over any Minibus issues and incidents.
6) Drivers have clear responsibility under road traffic law for the safety of passengers while they are on board or getting on or off the vehicle.
7) Drivers and Escorts should be the last people to leave the minibus making sure the clients are safely off the bus and clients are allocated by to the staff the escort. Driver and Escort should check the bus thoroughly before parking it in safe place & taking the minibus.
8) To have a friendly approach towards the clients and their families.
9) To provide relief care for other drivers as and when require often at short notice. 10) To undertake any training as and when required.
11) MIDAS training and D1/PCV license certificate is up to date.
12) To support and push wheelchair as and when required including on shopping trip, outings etc.
13) To support and assist clients and encourage independence and self-determination during their time at the centre.
14) To be aware of the individual needs of clients and respond appropriately to their likes and dislikes with regards to: personal care, clothing and personal belongings, food and diet, emotional, social, cultural and religious needs.
15) To provide all aspects of personal care as necessary e.g. washing, bathing, dressing, feeding and mobilising clients. To be able to move and handle clients and equipment.
16) To prepare and serve simple meal and beverages and assist clients who need help with eating, In providing choice, to be aware of any special dietary needs of the clients and assist with menu planning.
17) To clean and tidy eating areas after meals, wash up crockery and kitchen tools when necessary.
18) To organise and be prepared to accompany clients on outings which may include visits to shops, theatres etc and activities outside the centre and, when required, to escort clients to and from the centre.
19) To immediately inform the Opportunity Zone Manager of any significant change in a client's behaviour pattern or appearance and give a full report at the end of each shift.
20) To use IT skills in compiling reports and assist the admin staff in maintaining routine administrative system.
General responsibilities
1. To attend all meeting and training that relevant to the service.
2. To abide by all the organisation's policies and procedures and its code of Conduct.
3. To be aware of and implement all Departmental procedures.
4. To undertake any other duties and responsibilities as may be required to reflect the developing nature of the service.
5. You will undertake all other reasonable duties as delegated to them by the Opportunity Zone Manager or organisation's Director.
6. To drive minibus/escort to pick up and drop off clients to home and the Opportunity Zone or where necessary.
7. You will undertake route planning, taking into consideration clients' needs and traffic conditions.
8. You are responsible for the safe and comfortable access of the vehicle by passengers using wheelchairs through the accessible lift. All wheelchairs must be secured safely before driving off.
9. If the passenger is not ready for collection, the driver must wait five minutes beyond the scheduled collection time before moving off.
10. You will be responsible for daily safety checks of the vehicle. These include the daily checking of oil, water and exterior bodywork before the commencement of their round. All defects must be immediately reported.
11. You will be responsible for the cleaning and maintaining of their vehicles in a clean and tidy condition.
12. You are responsible for payment of any penalty charge incurred as a result of contravening a Highway Code regulation during the course of their duties.
