Job Description

J G Hale Group Limited, a multi award winning Company delivering major residential construction projects for Local Authorities, Housing Associations and the private building market has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Project Manager/Site Manager to join our busy construction team. You will be responsible for project managing construction sites ranging in value from 5 to 30 million, consisting of residential social housing contracts in the Cardiff and Newport areas.

Duties and responsibilities will include:



Oversee day to day operations of the project. Liaising and reporting to Contracts Manager/Construction Director and scheme Quantity Surveyor. Confirm building plans with the Contracts Manager and key sub-contractors. Oversee site employees (directly and indirectly employed) and sub-contractors working on the project, ensuring that they work in safe manner, are productive and complete the work to a high standard at all times. Create work schedules and programmes so projects are completed before deadlines. Purchase or hire building equipment and materials. Work closely with the Health and Safety Manager to ensure compliance with current Health and Safety regulations for the life of the project and ensure all site staff are operating in a safe manner. Monitor construction budget to minimise potential overspending. Liaising with the client clerk of works and client project manager. Ensure compliance with Health and Safety regulations and company policies. Monitor progress, report on milestones, and resolve site challenges effectively. Provide progress reports to the Contracts Manager and stakeholders as required. Negotiate with vendors, suppliers, and sub-contractors.

The successful candidate will have the following experience and skills:



SMSTS Qualification is essential. A valid CSCS card is essential. HNC/HND qualification in a construction/engineering subject is desirable. You will be an experienced Project Manager/Site Manager looking for the next step in your career. You must possess the ability to work to tight deadlines. Must have effective communication skills both written and verbal. Must possess a good understanding and technical knowledge of the construction industry including the contract process and law. Have a can-do attitude with the ability to work well within and to lead a team. You must have good Maths and IT skills and be proficient at using Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
You will be based in the South Wales area. We are offering an extremely competitive salary depending on experience and skills. The role is full time and permanent, working 39 hours per week, with 33 days annual leave (pro rata and inclusive of bank holidays).
