Job Summary:

We are looking for an experienced and proactive

Property Maintenance Surveyor

with specialist knowledge in

damp and mould diagnostics and remediation

. You will be responsible for inspecting and managing the condition of residential properties, identifying the root causes of damp and mould issues, and leading effective interventions to improve living conditions and ensure legal and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

Carry out thorough property inspections to identify causes of damp, mould, and condensation. Diagnose and report on the root causes (e.g. ventilation issues, structural defects, thermal bridging). Develop remedial action plans, specifying appropriate treatment works and materials. Instruct and supervise contractors carrying out damp and mould remediation works. Monitor the quality and effectiveness of completed works and carry out post-inspection checks. Liaise with residents to provide advice, support, and updates regarding identified issues and proposed solutions. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, reports, and photographic evidence of inspections and treatments.

Person Specification:

Essential:

HNC/HND or degree in Building Surveying, Construction, or related discipline. Proven experience in property maintenance surveying with a strong track record in damp and mould investigation. In-depth knowledge of building pathology, moisture ingress, ventilation systems, and remediation techniques. Familiarity with relevant legislation and guidance (e.g. Housing Health and Safety Rating System - HHSRS). Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical issues to non-specialists. Strong organizational and reporting skills, with attention to detail. Full UK driving licence

Desirable:

Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g. RICS, CIOB). Experience working in social housing or local authority environments. Training in mould remediation or environmental health.
