The Opportunity:
Are you looking for your next exciting career move? British Transport Police have an excellent opportunity for a Property Store Manager to join the Custody Team at Brewery Road. As a Property Store Manager with BTP, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of a busy property store, ensuring the integrity and continuity of evidential exhibits. The successful candidate will provide expert advice and guidance on Niche property procedures, the handling of hazardous, high-value, and sensitive items, and ensure compliance with established property management protocols. Responsibilities include supervising a team of property staff, supporting their professional development, conducting regular audits and reviews, and addressing any issues that may impact the integrity of evidence or the reputation of the organisation. This role is critical in maintaining high standards of evidential property management and supporting operational effectiveness across the division.
Main Responsibilities:
Team Leadership & Staff Management: Manage and support a team of Property Officers, including recruitment, training, performance management, and staff development.
Evidence & Property Oversight: Oversee the secure storage, handling, movement, and disposal of evidential property, including high-risk and sensitive items.
Audit & Compliance Management: Conduct regular audits and reviews to ensure compliance with legislation, force policies, and national standards.
Operational Excellence & Quality Control: Maintain accurate records, ensure quality control of exhibits, and implement improvements to property management processes.
Stakeholder Collaboration & Representation: Liaise with internal departments and external partners, providing expert advice and representing the organisation in court when required.
Health, Safety & Facilities Coordination: Ensure a safe working environment and coordinate with facilities and Health & Safety teams to maintain operational standards
What We're Looking For; Essential Skills:
Educated to BTEC/HND level or equivalent or possess relevant professional qualifications/experience.
Proven leadership and line management experience, including managing both local and remote teams.
Experience in operational or investigative environments.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
Ability to manage priorities, work under pressure, and meet deadlines.
Knowledge of evidence handling, property procedures, and auditing.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and database systems.
Vetting:
